almost 7 weeks now

Wow where did those weeks go…..this was me almost 7 weeks ago with all the time in the world

and now here we are only getting the time to take photos of our little babies sleeping

and sleeping again

finn upclose

and lets not forget dear little photogenic keira

fairy keira

and I want the time to myself sew badly (ha ha)……and not that I get out much but the weather has been so balmy here this week so I squeezed myself into my Built by Wendy pants….and now wish I had the time to make a second pair as they’re so comfy….I made them last year in stretchy denim and they’re super dooper comfy…I’m all hips and thighs so can totally recommend the pattern …..note these photos were taken last year after I made them not this morning after I squeezed my tummy into them.

I’m an aunty

Despite being an aunty about 15 times over on retro daddy’s side of the family I’m now an aunty for the first time on my side of the family with my little sister Phoebe giving birth to Beatrix

Aren’t they all just gorgeous…my Dad has requested we take a break from baby making for a while…..

On our baby front I’m battling through a bout of mastitis and decided to brave the outdoors in baby steps so we went to the park and bakery for a cupcake today and managed it….. ok I also got some caramel slice and am embarrassed to say that I gained a kilo last week when I thought the weight should be going down so that was my last treat….for today anyway

Rainbow Crochet

well all the yarn arrived for the mobile but the colours were so gorgeous and I have 200g of each colour so I decided a blankie for the twins was in order………and I just want to teach everyone how to crochet granny squares because its just sooooo easy.

on the baby front I made the mistake of going to the mall on my own with 3 little people….what a crazy woman I am! Of course everything that could go wrong did go wrong like poo leaking all over finn and his clothes, tillie kicking off her pants and blanket and screaming until that was sorted, keira not wanting to walk next to the pram, me not understanding how to fold the pram down and having to call retro daddy to find out how, babies wanting to be fed just as we’re in the supermarket, running into friends and wanting to talk but not having the time and just as I was racing out of the chemist with 2 screaming babies a lady decided to stand in front of the pram, put down her shopping and start to ask questions about the twins……so lets just say I won’t be doing that again anytime soon…and here is Finn’s latest trick of breaking out of his wrap yesterday

and again today….

and here is keira’s new do….I couldn’t deal with the knots anymore so I got the scissors out and gave it the chop.

official due date today

well today is the baby’s official due date and thank the Lord I didn’t go till 40 weeks…..I’d be huger than huge. We are now home alone and doing ok….I have to be up at 6ish to make sure we’re not in our pj’s and waiting for breakfast at 10am and that means ingesting coffee whenever I can after a feed to keep my eyes open. Some days the babies are very co-operative and feed and settle one after the other and the rest of the time someone is a little more hungry or cuddly but at least time flies…..

both babies are changing everyday with tillie a mini keira always wide eyed and investigating and staring at Finn who is either asleep, feeding or burping and such a boy!!!!

no sewing yet but I’m about to order all the yarn I need for this mobile from a clever book called boho baby knits…if I don’t make it miss tillie will continue to stare at white walls in the lounge.

and the winner….since i’m waiting for fabric a little longer than expected is…..drum roll…….by random number generator…….38 and that post is by upstatelisa so congrats and I’ll get some FQ’s over to you. I’m also dying to show you all the beautiful things you’ve been sending us for the twins and a huge post is coming i promise.

where did the week go!

wow where did that week go!!!!!! Life is divided into 3 or 4 hourly cycles of feeding, changing, settling, sleeping till its time for feeding again and this is how we spend our days…..the house seems so peaceful and organised when these two look like this and this is when mummy eats lots of choc chip cookies ( I average 2 large bags a week), puts yet another load of washing on, tidies and finds time to entertain keira. And yes Finn’s wrap has pink on it……I don’t put him in pink clothes but I love the warmth and size of these wraps and I’m sure he’ll forgive me when he’s older.

and here is Miss Keira watching a bit too much tv

but I have somehow managed to finish another pair of baby socks…..with another blue pair on the needles….I think its called addiction to baby socks but I can’t get enough of these cute socks.

and its been a good week with our house finally going on the market…..retro daddy is on the case looking for a bigger house for us now that we’re a family of 5 and my only request is 4/5 bedrooms with little work required and easy access from the car whereas his list includes open fireplace, swimming pool and large garden……and I thought women were supposed to be the picky ones!!!! thankfully we’ve decided to go a bit more suburban and hopefully can satisfy everyone in the family.

till next week……………oh and the winner…..I’ll leave it open another few days as I’m still waiting for my second delivery of fabrics…

One week on

Thank you for all your lovely comments…..what a job to get back to you all but its lovely to share our dear little babies with you all and read all your gorgeous comments. We’re home now and it feels soooooo good, I came home to a clean house, new video camera from my parents and this from hubby which will be well used once I’m back in action in the kitchen (he also treated me to a little tiffany’s necklace so I feel very spoilt)….what more could a girl want receiving twins, something from Tiffany’s and a kitchen aid and he picked the colour as well which is so retro and perfect.

Life is busy and night times are a blur with Finn wanting to feed every 2 hours and Tillie happy to go every 5 hours so at the moment I feed at the same time if they’re both up or one after the other to give my poor tired sore boobies a little rest……I was so worried about supply and positioning the babies it never occurred to me that feeding 2 babies means they never get a rest….poor little boobies

The babies are a bit too small for most of their 0000 wardrobe but the competition has officially started between them with their going home weights identical at 2.69kgs. Their little personalities are shining through with Tillie the big wide eyed placid little one who wants to check everything out and smile at you while Finn is the big feeder who gulps down his milk and makes little rooster sounds. They still love being next to each other and we sleep them together like this in the day time and top and tail in the cot at night time.

Keira is a little stunned that they actually came home from the hospital with us and isn’t giving them any attention and pretending to ignore them which isn’t exactly what I had in mind. She was all adoring in the hospital and I think she thought they might stay there so we’re working super hard on giving her lots of attention

and crafting…..well I managed to almost finish this pair of baby socks in the hospital and want to make some premmie cardies but wait till I show you what I’ve received from other crafters….it makes up for my lack of crafting and I’ll show and tell later in the week.

ok back to the job for me…..oh and I love it by the way….having two babies at once really is wonderful except at 4am when they both won’t go back to sleep and you can’t keep your eyes open…..

more photos

we thought you might like some photos…..we can’t stop taking them….

Finn’s arrival

then Tilly

more photos

the computer battery is about to die but just quickly we thought you might like some photos since we can’t stop taking them….
Finn’s arrival

then Tillie’s

day 2 more nestling together….they stop fussing and crying whenever they are put next to each other and its the cutest thing ever

They’re here, they’re here … two little blessings from heaven!!!

This morning we welcomed Finn Justin and Tillie Rose into the world. Finn arrived first at 8:11am weighing 6lb2oz, quickly followed by Tillie Rose at 8:13am weighing 6lb3oz. Everyone is doing well and we could stare at them forever.

More pictures to follow later this week.

P.S. RetroMummy has done an amazing job and Little Miss K adores her little bropther and sister. – RETRO DADDY

15 hours and counting

wow its almost here, I’ve done my time and we’re ready for these little ones to make their entrance to the world…….I’ve even managed to finish off this little cardigan during the week (another of the quick sweater pattern)

and some super cute baby socks called two needle socks by Debbie Bliss and found in a few of her books, these were from baby cashmerino 2 and super quick! I used a Spotlight fine merino yarn and they are so sweet and made the perfect substitute for baby cashmerino.

We’ve had a busy last day as I realised I had no 0000 singlets so we’ve rushed around, been to church where of course a baptism had to be on and I was waterworks most of the service, been to a childrens party, done 5 loads of washing, repacked the hospital bag, about to move and make up the cots and managed to squeeze in a piccie of the belly….bye bye big belly, fat ankles, heartburn, discomfort and 17 kilos

and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your beautiful messsages this pregnancy…its been so wonderful to share it with all of you and I know I owe a few of you personal replies but every message has meant so much to me……so watch this space for a post tmrw afternoon.

love Corrie xxxx

Two little blessings from heaven

This morning we welcomed Tillie Rose and Finn Justin into the world. Words can’t describe how we are feeling and how special it is to welcome two babies into the world at once so we’ll let the photos do the talking for us.

another quick baby sweater

I love this pattern so much that this is my third…..its knit in one piece and is too easy…so easy I’m working my way through a boy version at this very moment…..

And life at the moment is about waddling around, having a whinge, telling the babies to move since both their heads are under my ribs, hanging around the house in the comfiest clothes I can find and finding a girls name since I’ve changed my mind at the last minute…….any suggestions of pretty girls name that aren’t too common are welcome at this point!!

9 sleeps to go………

EDITED TO ADD THAT NOW ANYONE CAN COMMENT ON MY BLOG…..I’M SORRY TO THOSE READERS WHO HAVE BEEN TELLING ME I HAD RESTRICTED COMMENTS…YES YOU WERE RIGHT AND NOW ALL IS WELL.

I looooooove swaps

Ohhhhh I love swaps so much (perhaps not so much when I’m getting close to the deadline and a bit behind) but today I received my parcel from the ravelry Australian Knitters Swap and i just love it. I got a gorgeous girly hottie cover

pink fingerless mitts for driving and getting out and about (because you know I’m going to have lots of time for getting out soon)

a wonderfully retro hand stitched apron and some yummy chocolate.

Thank you to the blogless tammy I love it all…..and the mitts will be coming out with me to my twin class tonight……..I just need to reclaim them from keira because we both share a love of pink.

those cheeky twinnies

Well yesterday went well….I needed an ice block to get them moving but this time little boy decided not to move at all and little girl did all the moving for 2 hours! I definitely think they’re conspiring against us already….

2 weeks today and I’ll be holding my little bundles! The bag is in the car, 8 meals in the freezer and not long to go now.

getting through the baby projects….

Well slowly and surely I’m getting through my to do list. I set up a little sweat shop in the corner of my lounge and set my mum to work whipping up muslin wraps and cot sheets….she loves to sit and sew all day and you just need to keep her supplied with coffee, home baked cookies and lunch…its win win!

I do the cutting and she sews and there were bibs too (pre-velcro)…

while I managed some appliqued singlets and onesies

and a super cute Debbie Bliss cardigan that sadly I’m giving away to another new mummy but it didn’t take long at all and I’d love to add it to my collection….please excuse the bad lighting in all my photos…..I haven’t worked out the best spot in the house at the moment….

And thank you for all the belly comments….some days I’d like to remove it and take a breather but with just over 2 weeks to go I think I can make it. We spent 2 hours this morning at the hospital having some CTG monitoring that should have been uneventful but little girl wasn’t moving as much as big brother despite lemonade and gentle nudges so the Dr wants us back again on sunday and the hospital bag will be packed in the boot just in case….
