First loaf

Oh dear. I think it’s official. I ‘ve turned into one of those annoying people that just want to talk about my thermomix and how great it is. All the time. Oh my goodness I’m going to have to stop going on about everything I’ve been cooking on FB otherwise people will stop reading me. It’s just so amazing. Since my last post I’ve made a delicious tuna pasta that tasted so much like a rich and creamy marinara sauce and the pasta cooked in the sauce not in boiling water, a loaf of bread, more porridge, an apple and prune compote, lots more vanilla custard, chickpea and vegie soup amd cashew and white chocolate cookies. And there are no leftovers. A good sign.
brunch this morning
And I’ve told you before that I’m not food stylist. I’m sure the knife should have been at a different angle or the cute jam lid showing. But I just wanted to finish my piece of warm bread, butter and jam. I think if I stick to one slice a morning it won’t be too bad for my health……or waistline.
1st loaf out of the thermomix
And something I realised while eating this loaf was just how much salt and sugar must be in the regular store bought bread I normally buy. I’ve made bread before but I really noticed it with this loaf. And while I don’t think I can commit to making all of our bread – I think I can manage a couple of times a week.

  1. Homemade bread is the best, it is a bit weird when you see what goes into it and then you read the ingredients on a shop bought loaf! I make 4 loaves at a time (not with a thermomix) and keep them in the freezer so just bake every 6 days or so. The smell is delicious!

  2. Yum, homemade bread is delicious!
    I think I need a thermomix hehe :)

  3. Oh I would love a thermomix. I first saw one last year on TV and Hubby and I quickly googled to see where we could get one.

When we realised we’d have to take out a loan to get one, and sell our only child… we decided we could do without.

I do still dream though! x

  4. Corrie, that bread and jam looks delicious! Could be dangerous to have in the house. Bet your house smelt divine while it was baking xx

  5. Hi Corrie! Homemade bread is very good indeed. I like knowing what goes into mine too.

When my sons were small I made all my own jams. I no longer have the need to do that nor the facilities so had stopped using it. Then I found Anathoth jams from NZ. Woolies and Coles sell them and their chutneys too. Just fruit and sugar and they taste amazing.

So I’ve been eating homemade bread and good jam since I moved to my own place. While I could afford a Thermomix, I think it wold be a bit of overkill with just me here. Enjoy yours. Anything which helps when family is small just has to be good.

  6. That loaf of bread looks sooo delicious. Homemade…only the best! Yum! I am a follower of your blog and love it! Won’t you come over and follow us too? We’d love to have you! Hugs! Loretta

  7. Homemade bread is so just the best isn’t it? Even a few times a week will be great for you as you know just what’s in it. Also think of the money saved. The bread I used to buy was over $5 per loaf which certainly adds up over the course of a week.

  8. Fresh bread and jam. So simple, but so delicious xxx

  9. I definately don’t think you are one of those annoying people!!!! I’m loving your posts on all your cooking! Gives me good ideas too :) Nothing like fresh bread and jam and being a good New Zealander I have to agree with Jan about the Anathoth jams and was very happy to see supermarkets selling them when we moved here! Keep up the good cooking!

  10. Oh delicious Corrie, you are making me hungry for sure. I have just pulled a batch of cookies out of the oven and eaten one hot! Just from reading your tasty post ;o)
You can talk about your thermomix until your heart’s content, it’s fab reading xo

  11. Bread looks yummy as does the lovely cloth you have laid it out on.Love the details and vintage colours

  12. LOL…it never stops…the food is amazing and so nutricious…keep showing waht you’ve made…it inspires me to make more food in mine….
    Hugs Dawn x x x

  13. Completely not about the loaf (although that does look delish!) I just flickr’ed your pics and saw the new pants you made for Elodie. . . . . in a word GORGEOUS!!! Both baby and pants! I so need to make a girl, purely for the cute clothes : )) Can’t wait to see your blog about them x

  14. Hey Corrie. Since I stopped blogging over at Bluebird Makes Her Nest, I have started a Thermomix blog. I finally put my Bluebird’s nest to rest and have been posting over at MyMelbourneThermomix.
Isnt Thermomix the best! Great for busy mums. You know a Thermomix mum of four made her own bread and in a year she had paid for ther Thermomix, on bread alone!
