barefoot contessa’s kitchen

I love Ina Garten aka Barefoot Contessa. She is such a natural on her shows and has wonderful recipes. Through pinterest I was able to find her Hamptons kitchen and there are so many things to love that I want to incorporate into my own kitchen design. First up for me is the white cupboards and dark countertops. Classic and stylish. I also love the stainless steel in the kitchen (mainly because retro daddy won’t be buying me a cream aga to go in my dream kitchen), the overall size and layout and that huge island. Imagine how many cute children I could feed seated there.
Now the first 3 pictures are of the recreated kitchen for House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year while the last picture is of her actual kitchen in her Hamptons home. And if you want to take a closer look (I know you do)then here she is in the recreated kitchen talking about it’s design! I think I’ve watched this about 5 times. There are actually 11 videos in total which you can find here.
Do you love Hamptons style? Do you dream of a kitchen renovation or do you have your dream kitchen? And if you have your dream kitchen then I’m officially jealous.

  1. Thank you for finding this kitchen. It is divine – and as I think about planning my new kitchen, I will be taking some of those thoughts with me. I particularly love the idea of one large sink, not a divided sink. I find that I never use my divided sink the way they were intended, as so much goes in the dishwasher now, rinsing is not the issue it used to be.

  2. Oh love the new super pretty layout of your blog Corrie, gorgeous, would suit the Hamptons!! You’re on your way already!!
My husband gets to design our kitchen as he will be doing the cooking (glee, no more overseas war zones after we build, yay!!) Anyway, all i’ve asked is that he takes into consider i’m 7″ shorter than him & he doesn’t raise the counters. He is ALL about the oven & i’d love a red AGA, oh yes, with my black & white kitchen. One thing i do want to chose is the door to the walk in pantry, i want a glass lolly shop style door that invites you in, something you’d see on Main Street USA in Disneyland. Ahhh, we can dream together. With 4 younger children i didn’t like counter stools but i might reconsider as they are less crumby now they are older?? They might even peel a potato or carrot from their stools to help, love Posie

  3. Awesome Corrie, love that your dreaming, LOL enjoy!!!

  4. A very beautiful kitchen and it would be a dream to cook in. Nice and airy. How wonderful are those ceilings?!

  5. Looks like 5 stools at that bench….better have another baby!

  6. What an utterly wonderful room!

  7. Oh I dream about a new kitchen, ALL the time! The one we have isn’t all bad, it is just too dark and has none of my own personal touch in it. I do love the skylight and sky window, but that’s about it.
I am with you Corrie, white cupboards and tiles, darker bench tops. Ahhhh perfection.
Loving those pics… and the idea of lots of space for the kiddies too :o)
Looking forward to following your dream kitchen into reality xo

  8. Lots and lots of drawers would be in my dream kitchen. especially drawers near the dishwasher for plates etc. I worked for a few weeks in a kitchen with many drawers. Just heavenly for almost everything, not just saucepans.

  9. ooh gorgeous kitchen! We are in the process of lopping off the back of our house and adding on, including a new kitchen. I love the open shelves, and the big bench… and now I’m contemplating a dark bench top.. we were thinking wood… hmmm

  10. I saw her setting up a garden party on her property last week and I was so in love with her house.

Wish I could win the lottery to own something similar! x

  11. Hi Corrie,

I work in a Kitchen store, I sell AGA’s would you believe. Anyway we are hearing our customers at the moment talking about Hampton style kitchens, Which I think are beautiful.

  12. Oh yes, I love Ina and her kitchen too! And there was one episode where they just walked out the back door and set up a picnic right on the beach. I die! I really want that life.

  13. The most expensive type of kitchen countertops is granite and it’s indestructible. It cannot be scratched easily and it’s not affected by heat. Granite is available in many stunning, natural colors. Laminate countertops are classy and affordable.

  14. The stove in this Kitchen really must be mine !

  15. love it and would be thrilled to have it as my kitchen counter.
