Win a Blurb book!

So the nice people at Blurb are offering a free book to one of my lucky readers this month!! Before Elodie was born I was lucky enough to have a book made by them for my family and the finished book is just gorgeous. A quality coffee table book that you will want to show off to everyone who walks in your door. You can view mine here and all of my photos came from flickr.
It’s very easy to make, you choose your size and layout then upload your photos and choose any words you want to appear with the photos. There are loads of helpful hints, tips and sources of inspiration once you’re on blurb. I am just so impressed by the quality of the book and it looks so much smarter than a photo album. And if you’re really stretched for time, use this and have your book completed in about  20 minutes. Hello time poor mummy, that is just what you need! Here’s another one too, called Booksmart.
my introduction
The most important thing I did learn is that you really should ask someone else to check your words for you. Like your husband who routinely reads contracts and documents. Because otherwise you’ll write the year of your wedding as 2009. Which is all fine and dandy if you got married then but I did not. It’s the first photo in the book. I know, such a silly mistake to make and one I noticed as soon as I opened the book. So do yourself a favour and get someone else to read it!
pretty pictures
But moving on………….the kind people at Blurb have offered free shipping for my lovely readers in December. Just enter this code RETROMUMMYSHIP in the order details and you’ll get free priority shipping on up to 3 books tha you make or from the bookstore.  This is a great saving and these books make beautiful presents for family and friends. Offer ends 31st December 2010. And if you’d like to go in the running to win one on my blog just tell me what kind of book would you make and who you would make it for this Christmas. Entires close 6pm, 8th December so you still have time to order your book and receive it by Christmas! Good luck! I’d make another one for my parents so they could look at our sweet faces all day long!

  1. I’d make one for my folks because they live in Queensland and I’m in Melbourne and they’re really sad about not seeing my first little one grow up (bless Skype though! like having a visit with people you love)

  2. I would make one about my one and only child. Lots of photos of her, her artwork, with her dogs, with her friends!

  3. I’d make one for our family, my kids would just be blown away to see themselves in the pages of a real and proper book. I can Imagine reading them stories about themselves before bedtime. absolutely too cool! thanks for such an awesome opportunity Corrie and Blurb.

    x

  4. Just love that photo of Keira on the cover, it’s wonderful, so full of joie de vivre. I would love to make a book of our little one’s first year in the world.

  5. I would also make one for my family, I hope there are enough pages :) What a great giveaway!

  6. I’d love to make one of Aden’s 1st brithday and party. So many great memories and family time.

PS then I’d make a second one of our honeymoon! Tassie was beautiful!

  7. I’d make one for my fiance of all the good times we have had together so far int he last four years! :)

  8. I’d make of for us and the grand-folk of the last three years of our life….we have FINALLY just sorted through all the photos from our wedding and two littles ones (3000 good ones printed)…hopefully we will keep on top of it from now on!

  9. I would fill it with pictures of me and the kids having a blast in qld and then perhaps my mum would get the hint and move up and join in on the fun!

  10. I was going to make two of these albums for both sets of grandparents this year to mark our nearly 2 year anniversary since arriving in Australia. I thought this would be a nice present for them as my parents haven’t met our latest addition to the family who was born Valentine’s Day this year. We will be travelling back to give them in person this Christmas to NZ :)

  11. I would make one for my Dad. He has one with the two boys in it, but not with with all 4 kids. He’d love it!

  12. I would make a book of my journey through motherhood, from the birth of my daughter Lily to my wonderful stepsons who came from portugla to live with us in South Africa.

  13. Id make one for my daughter who is turning 10 soon. I just did a post on my blog about the photoboards I make for their 5th birthdays and now for their 10th I want to give them books, about them from newborn to 10….a new family tradition…

  14. Well I’d definitely make one for US first. Greedy little girl that I am! I have three little people who are very interested in looking at themselves in print all day. Then one for the sister-in-law who lives in the NT. I would want to put all my nephews and my niece in it too to remind the girls how important family is!!!

    Such a lovely idea.

  15. I think one for my parents (who are now great-grandparents) starting with their individual portraits from when they were young in the 30’s & 40/s and then their wedding photo, photos of us as kids and then the grand-children & great-grandchildren. A good way to celebrate nearly 60 years together.

  16. I would like to turn parts of my blog into a book:) I started to do a blurb book and got busy and never finished. Yours is lovely!

  17. I would make one for my mum so she can hav a beautiful brag book about her ever so growing up quickly grandchildren. It would be good to let some of the photos see the light of day again.

  18. i have made photobooks before but yours from blurb looks amazing!!
i’d definitely love to do another family one..gorgeous Corrie ♥

  19. I would make a book for the kids grandparents. The last book I made was after my first when most of my time was dedicated to just her. Now we’ve added an extra two and one on the way it seems very pertinent to document our growing family before they’re teenagers and hardly speak to us anymore!

  20. Wow, such a great idea! You were a lovely bride.

  21. Loving it, Corrie! I’d make one featuring the three pixies as we’ve hardly printed any photos since Sammy was born. That’s on the ‘to do list’. This would spur me on. J x

  22. Oooh, great comp Corrie! I’d make a book of ‘this year in pictures’ for my awesome husband – he bought me a fantastic DSLR for my birthday last year and loves to see the pictures of our little tribe that I take :)

  23. I’ve always wanted to mame my kids an ABC book with pictures of family and friends for each letter of the alphabet.

  24. I would make one for my mum as she has alzheimers disease and is only 62, she just loves looking at all her 13 brothers and sisters photos from them growing up and also the photos of my brothers and my photos and her grandkids photos!

  25. I would love to make one of these books – for my mum, then another one for my kids to remember all the good times we’ve shared together. LOVE that front cover photo.

  26. This is so cool Corrie, you always know about the coolest things! I like you would have to make one about my family and my 4 little beautifuls. I would love one for my Mum and Dad who don’t live near us, but I would also have to have one too!

  27. Wow, what a great prize! I would love to make one of these books of my daughter (like yours) for my husband because he is in the Navy and has to go to sea. What a great book for him to take so he can look at us whenever he wants, and no risk of photos getting lost or damaged!! And when he’s at home we would be able to look at it too… I LOVE it.

  28. PS, I’m actually Caroline, but my husband set up the google account! :)

  29. Great book Retromummy!

I would make a book for my daughter. She is off to big school next year, and I think it would be a nice way to cherish the artwork, memories and friendships she has made at preschool.

  30. I would make a book for my husband about great times we have had together for him to take on deployments.

  31. It would be an undertaking, but I would make one about my grandparents – their life together. They made a video together years ago with old photos – if I could get my hands on those photos, I’d make a book with my grandmother. Sitting with her, writing out the story for each picture – sounds like heaven to me! They were married right after Pearl Harbor and their courtship and marriage is full of fascinating stories.

  32. gorgeous..!

  33. I would make one for my daughter as I do not have a book just for !
    thanks!

  34. Hehe you are so funny Corrie, dating something incorrectly is SO me too! 😛

  35. I love Blurb books! I’ve done family photo books for 2007, 2008 and 2009… even though we have lots more pictures on the computer it’s lovely to have some printed out to flick through with Ali and show the familiy. The layouts are so versatile too. SO, a little bit boring but the next book I would do would be 2010. And I keep meaning to make one with photos from life in Japan too.

  36. This was a really challenging year for our family so I would make one for us to remind us how many gains we have made despite the constant struggle. Corny but true :).

  37. I’d make one for Me! actually, Id do one for my sister because she is so far away and missing my boys like crazy

  38. I would make it for my mumma as she is such a fantastic woman, mother, nonna and friend. She is supportive in everything I do and is just a phonecall away if I need her. She loves my little man so much, and he loves her!

  39. I would make on for My parents and of course it would be of all of there Grandchildren:)

We move every year or two and have not lived near family since moving to Townsville in 1996.

  40. After 13 years and 12, 000 miles away from home every picture I take is for the pleasure of my family and friends who live so far away they can’t be close to experience our growing family in person. Love your family book Corrie. A great gift idea for Grandparents and family to cherish.

  41. What a great giveaway and postage offer! Thanks!
I have on my list of things to do a book all about projects and ideas from op shopped things, and a personalised alphabet/counting one for my munchkin :)

  42. I have been wanting to make one of these but didn’t know where to go – perfect! Thanks.

I would make one for my dad as he lives three hours away. He is always asking for a photo of us for a frame, but there is never really good one of “all of us” I tell him to read my blog for pictures, but dad’s don’t really do blogs!

  43. This is so gorgeous, i’d love to see yours!! I think we should start one for our family seeing our eldest is starting high school & number 4 is 7 years old, as a next chapter kind of thing?? Love Posie

  44. Hi! Thanks for the chance to win! I’d so LOVE to win as I’ve had an album of my second child’s first year of life sitting there waiting in blurb to be printed for a year and a half! It’s just one of those expensive jobs that just gets put into the wait until….category unfortuantly. Now we have a first year album to make for our third child who’ll be one in January too! Thanks again for the chance to win!:o)

  45. I would make it for me…my children’s births in words and photos, would be sure to be my favourite book. thanks for the lovely opportunity.

  46. I’d make a book for my husband. It is our ten year anniversary on Dec 23. I too have four little ones and haven’t printed out any photos since number three was born four years ago. A photo book could be just the answer. Thanks, Simone

  47. I’m a Family Day-Care educator and I’d make one for one of my parents whose 2 sons I look after. This lady is one of the most generous and giving people I’ve ever come across. She’s been an egg donor twice – once for her sister and another time for a couple she didn’t even know.

I admire her and all she stands for and I’d love to do something like this for her of her boys to cherish forever.

  48. I have just made this comp in time! I would make one of my four kids for my coffee table…as they get older and leave home its nice to sit back and look at photos of them from when they were babies and throughout the years. It’s amazing how quickly we forget, and how fast they grow. I love looking through the old photos of my babies…who are all grown up. Might just go check these out.

  49. Just finished making my first book (totally forgot about the free shipping. Doh!). My mother in law is going to love her Christmas present I am sure of it!

Oh and I tried to behave and let the computer do the layout but FIVE days later I think I got everything where I wanted it. So apparently not great for the *ahem* slightly over analytical amongst us!

Bad, bad retromummy for showing me this site! LOL
