when a tv crew comes to your house

Edited to let you know you can watch the segment here and no I’m not the hoarder guy. I’m the blonde afterwards. Just in case there was any confusion.

I like to keep it real here! Sometimes you might come here and think wow, she’s so organised or her house looks so tidy in the background. That’s because I have spots where I like to take my photos. And there is nothing wrong with shoving things away to instantly declutter a background shot.  And so yesterday afternoon I was asked would I mind if a tv crew came over to shoot a segment at our house. I said sure just give me a day. They wanted to come 9.30am. That was ok but I knew it meant some serious cleaning was in order because the cleaning lady comes in at lunchtime. And as any mummy knows, little people would conspire against me and mess up any clean area. Where is the crime scene tape when you need it to close off areas! But I got there in the end. One clean house. However in the process I totally forgot that it was my wedding anniversary today! But thankfully retro daddy totally forgot too. We’ve been talking about it up until last night and then just totally forgot this morning. Oops.

But my house looked tidy – here is my super tidy entrance which had until midnight had my mountain buggy, running shoes, bags, mail and more shoes but now looks like this……………..welcoming.

And yes the carpet still drives me crazy. My vision for this area is polished floorboards, pale grey walls with white trims, a white staircase with dark trims and a grey carpet running up the stairs.

And this is what it looked like mid filming. We had so much fun. I had to fan some money around and grin at the camera – but it made me laugh so hard that I couldn’t stop and got all teary from laughing so hard. Or when one of the  guys picked up a mannequin and was supposed to be showing me while the camera was rolling but couldn’t pick up and kept trying and I was just giggling away – thankfully out of camera – but had to compose myself to talk back to him. We even talked about that prime time tv show – animal hoarders!

Anyway, everything going to plan I should be on tonight’s edition of Today Tonight. I’ll keep you posted on my Facebook page and will be sure to share a recording of it online for those who won’t be able to watch it.

  1. How exciting. Be sure to tune in.

  2. That sounds like a lot of fun (if a little hard work leading into it). I like your plans for the entry. Yeah that carpet would drive me crazy too although very retro I am sure someone would love the original/authentic (50s? 60s? 70s?) look?!
Love the new look blog also very crisp and clean looking and beuatiful new headshot of you and bub (well back of head for hime). What is the main font that is used its very readable . Hope to catch Today Tonight to see what this is all about now I know a bit about the behind the scenes goings on.

  3. WOWZA! Go Corrie! I’m switching the telly on now so I don’t miss it!

    Sophie xo

P.S. I can’t wait to see the plans you have for your beautiful little house unfold! I’m sure you’ll do wonders with it!

  4. You were great – I was surprised to see you on TV.

  5. I read your post late this afternoon and I told everyone that mummy was watching Today Tonight just to see you on the television. Guess what I missed it. So I’ve just watched it online and you did really well. I love Gumtree its so easy and things do sell much easier than eBay (this is my experience) I’m in the process of going through all my babies clothing to sell as we have sooooooooooo much stuff and I need to get rid of the clutter. Good luck selling the rest of your stuff. You looked great on the television 😉

  6. Mama of 2 boys says:

How exciting Corrie! And Happy Anniversary, ours is next week too, but there is SO much going on around here right now, I won’t be surprised if we forget on the day too. Must head off to watch your segment on TT xo

  7. Snap! Happy anniversary, we forgot ours too 😉

  8. You looked great Corrie and spoke so well :) Lovely to see Elodie and Emerson in the shot too! Its so true though….I know that there are things in my house I could get rid off but haven’t, yet I wouldn’t call myself a hoarder 😉

  9. I was so glad to be able to watch online as we have a different TDT in Perth. You look great, and the little ones too. My friend just finished retiling his bathroom, he resold on Gumtree the tile cutter he had bought new, for $80 less than he bought it for… cheaper than hiring one!!!!!!

  10. Congratulations. I am in the process of selling our house so I know what midnight cleaning sessions are all about.

  11. You are so brave Corrie! No way I’d have a TV crew at my house, I’d have a nervous break down along the way :-) I hope to watch on-line shortly. Also Corrie, I love your home, and don’t be hard on yourself about kid mess and clutter, it just means a family is busy growing up together :-) Those that matter in life understand this and love you for your true self.
