1 down….49 to go

this is one of 50 bonboniere boxes I need to make up and fill with chocolates…oh and I’ve got to make the chocolates too….

I have 2 nights in sydney to complete them all and might be roping in retro daddy to help me out but they are gorgeous little italian paper boxes that I wish I’d found for my wedding…I was flattered when my little sis asked me to make her bonboniere like mine and I know I’ll have fun making them.

ok back to my kit kat…I made the mistake of buying 2 king size kit kats yesterday and nearly finished the 2 of them…..

another hat and those cute patterns

well for the macro challenge here is another umbilical cord hat I finished today made from Bendigo Neon which I picked up in their bargain room ….I think I got 8 skeins for a total of $2.50…talk about a bargain!!!

and here are those cute patterns as promised…I used the mccalls 3334 yesterday and its the easiest but I must admit I prefer the neckline on the simplicity 6184 which is a dress I actually wore as a flower girl many years ago….I always make dresses for keira a size bigger than she is to make sure we get lots of use from them….

I’m also stalking the postman for these books…I can’t wait to see them both for lots of inspiration especially as Keira is getting very crafty and loves her little craft table we’ve set up and the lotta book includes reusable stencils…how fabulous!

busy bee sunday smock

Well after a hearty potato and leek soup with damper all made by myself for lunch… I hit the sewing room as panic had set in…my little sister gets married in less than 2 weeks and miss keira has no new outfits for all the festivities in Sydney…..

so I set myself a target of 2 smocks in an afternoon using a vintage pattern (I’ll share tomorrow) and some cute fabrics from Spotlight.

and while keira was at grandma jill’s, I managed to whip them up…and we love them even if keira wasn’t in the mood for modelling and staying still

unlike yesterday when she was happy to model…….and test driving yesterday turned into trading in and buying a new car……not brand new but new to us and we’ll pick up the keys to our silver family mobile next week (the kia carnival for those people mover experts out there).

12 of 30, sock kitty and the belly

12 of 30 is my favourite scent

and yesterday afternoon I made skitty…keira’s newest addition to her sock softy collection…retro daddy thinks she looks sad but maybe thats because she’s sitting next to a dog…I just think she’s sad that she hasn’t accessorised so I might need to make a little scarf

and as requested here is the belly shot at 20 1/2 weeks….I put my head in this time just to prove its really me although I do prefer to smile in photos I was just concentrating…and in exciting news I’m booked in to meet my gorgeous babies on 8/8/08 at 11am and what a lucky day to be born (if you’re chinese!)….

and I better be off as we’re test driving people movers today..something which scares me since I’ve never mastered the reverse park in a sedan let alone a mini-van.

11 of 30…and being restrained at a fabric sale

Well here is 11 of 30…a prickly scary plant found in our backyard and out of reach of little hands..it scared me too much to pick it up

and this is me being restrained at the amitie sale….I think I was very restrained and will probably be back tomorrow for a few more girly prints as I got home and realised now I’m overcompensating and buying too many boyish fabrics….what a lovely store and definitely my fabric store of choice in melbourne.

and this is me being restrained at the amitie sale….I think I was very well behaved but will probably be back tomorrow for a few more girly prints since its 20% off and I realised now I’m overcompensating and buying too many boyish fabrics….what a lovely store and definitely my fabric store of choice in melbourne and so hard to drag keira away from the dollshouse.

and don’t forget to check out my store for hollabee fabrics (more coming next month), a mini book restocking and more Japanese cupcake fabric and eskimo kids arriving Monday so I’m taking orders.

great mail day

its been a great week and this morning the sun was out letting me get a bright and cheery shot of the lovely camelia growing outside our kitchen window…

but the highlight of the week has been receiving parcels each morning..things are a little upmarket where we live now and instead of parcels being hurled across the doorstep our postman now knocks and hands all parcels over to me…that is nice but its also embarrassing when he comes 3 or 4 days in a row as he has done this week. Here is Keira picking the next project from the great sock and glove book…this is such a great book and the patterns are so much cuter than the ones I made..just ignore the afternoon mess in the background…we’ve been having fun with buttons today.

and here is a cute vintage pic for the nursery….its made in Italy and the dear little boy and girl twins have an angel watching over each of them…its in immaculate condition and was worth the crazy price I paid for it on ebay but I just had to have it and especially since they looked like little keira’s with their curls and chubby faces.

Sunday one day crafts

Well I managed to start and finish a few little things this Sunday…first up are some cute wall hangings for keira’s room/the nursery which are so quick and easy and brighten up the wall

and then I decided it was time we upgraded our tv quilt…you know the one that hangs over the lounge and keeps you warm while you’re watching tv (or knitting or stitching)…our current lap quilt just isn’t making the cut down here in chilly melbourne as its just too small.

So I decided the quilt was for keira so we got out all the pink fabrics and made long strips, joined them, backed with some pink homespun, quilted by an improving stitcher in the ditcher, added some binding after dinner and voila…..a quilt started and finished in a day….

now I need to go and clean up the aftermath in my sewing room.

and here’s my 6th shot for yesterday for the macro challenge…one of those super cute $1 cups.

and I don’t need to worry about my bad machine quilting for much longer because my dear sister in law Julie is setting up her own busines here….yipee I can pay someone I know to do my quilts for me….don’t forget Project Runway starts tonight…woohooo

5 of 30 and I love church fetes

here is a cute little japanese doll that sits on top of our tv just swinging around

This morning we braved a dreary morning to check out a church fete out of our neighbourhood…I love church fetes because some of the dear old ladies bring some real finds from home….and these are some of the cute bargains I came home with…and I say bargain because the lady only wanted $1.20 for 3 little cups and saucers….I gave her $3 and still felt like I was robbing her blind…

this little one is from japan

and of course we had to search for cute books for miss keira….we finished off the morning with some little cupcakes and rolling of eyes from retro daddy who thought I spent the entire morning buying junk…he only approves of books at these kind of things.

4 of 30…vintage goodness

day 4 and here is a cute hanging I made for keira’s room/the nursery…I have about 2m of this fabric from the 70’s found at an op shop fabric sale and when I showed my dear mother she managed to find some more at home with fluffy dogs too…..sooo cute

and last of the appliques I promise but I just adore these little holly hobbie singlets I whipped up yesterday…I had a few FQ of the fabric and it seemed too precious to cut so this was a nice way to delve into them…

3 of 30 and the belly shot

here is Keira’s one and only piece of Tiffany’s

and here I am at 19 weeks…thats half way for a twin pregnancy and it looks a bit like i have a basketball in there but its all natural I promise…..

3 of 30

here is Keira’s first gift from Tiffany’s

oh and yesterday we reached the half way point and this is the size of things…didn’t want to do a macro of this one it might be a bit scary.

on the crafting side there hasn’t been much while retro daddy is away in sydney all week but I’ve got a huge pile of things ready to be appliqued and got out all the japanese craft magazines for some cute inspiration…think hedgehogs, russian dolls and cupcakes…coming soon.

1 of 30 for the macro challenge

in an effort to improve my pathetic photography skills i’ve found out about this challenge from this lady and I hope to become a better photographer and blogger..I’ve already learnt how to use the macro mode on my camera for the first time.

and so this is my beloved georg jensen engagement ring
