Elf on the Shelf

I know some of you aren’t ready to say the C word yet. Christmas. But I am. I love Christmas. I love everyting about it except when I can’t get a carpark at the Mall. But I feel like I’ve been living under a rock because I had never heard of Elf on the Shelf before. At school pick up one of the other mum’s was telling me about how she bought it on Amazon and I was like ‘What? Never heard of it’, and she told me to go check out pinterest. So I did. How did I not know about this cute retro elf that sits at your house.
He comes with a storybook and and makes a cute little Christmas tradition at your house as you move him around every night for the little ones to find the next morning. I know this will be popular and right up there with the Little People Nativity Set. Needless to say I ordered him on Amazon and hope he makes it here soon!
Do you have one or did you know about him and didn’t tell me?

  1. Corrie, I actually Blogged about Elf on the Shelf the other day. I found him via Pinterest and just had to have one. Mine is on his way, I hope he arrives soon!!

  2. We have a felt handmade elf that we used to move around the house at Christmas time when the kids were little. This year, I made two elves for each of our children, so that someday they can continue the tradition with any children they might have.

  3. I had never heard of him either until I noticed him popping up everywhere on Pinterest. Very cute!

  4. I actually just saw this little elf on Little Green Notebook. I remember my mum had a wooden sign that had a summer scene painted on one side, and a winter scene with Christmas tree on the other. At the start of December we would come in the morning and the sign would be turned to show the Christmas side (it was above a doorway). We never thought it was double sided when we were little and it was always a little bit of Christmas magic!

  5. Ooooh I need one! What a wonderful idea, to have a little Elf watching on behalf of Santa. . . this is PERFECT! I must go shopping tonight!! Thanks for telling me about him! : )

  6. I hadn’t heard of him either until he started popping up all over Pinterest. I think I will wait until Max is a bit older next year and then get starting on this fun tradition :)
