And I’d just like to say that daddy changed the paper flower and decided to tie it straight to the roof so the kids couldn’t play with it. I hate it. I have other plans. Now day 3 meant decisions on the french doors, paying the deposit on the floors and panicking because the floors will need to go in before the kitchen. Hearing from the builder that retro daddy shouldn’t paint just to keep costs down but get a professional in. Telling retro daddy he’ll need to pay for the painter. That sort of thing went on.
And that was day 2 + 3. Still early days and I’m getting used to it, there is a lot of noise but not too much disruption and I’m happy to be here to answer the questions. The kids peek their heads around the door and can’t say anything they are still in shock everytime they peek their head around. Even elodie strains her head to get a look in. It still doesn’t feel real that I’m finally getting the space I’ve always wanted but it’s coming along and I’m learning a lot along the way.

You are nearly through the worst bit by the looks. Our kitchen went 25% over budget. ouch!
What a MASSIVE couple of days Corrie. I’ll say it again, you are amazing for taking all of this on, with 4 children, living amongst it all, with RetroDaddy away. Brave, brave lady. The pic of the children is adorable, so cute that they’re all sleeping together. It’s like one big adventure for them I bet :o) xo

I know there’re a lot of costs but I still cannot believe how quickly the painters worked at our place. Two sections of hallway, three big bedrooms, one ensuite and one WIR all painted, one coat on ceilings AND walls within one day of school hours. We would have held things up for many, many days had we done it.

Most of that was in trademan’s costs. They all went over their estimated labour costs…….by a lot!

You are doing great Corrie, do beware of them talking you into all kinds of ‘extras’ as this is what they add huge mark up too. While retrodaddy could do the painting, the time saved will be invaluable. Spend the extras on things that will save time, but get the same result. Loving following your renos. I built a house last year on my own, love the outcome, stayed pretty much to budget and kept my finger on the pulse. Love the kids in the bed, very cute!
