Well I thought it would be fun to keep track of our kitchen renovation right here on my little blog! I promise not to bore you with very exciting things like installing steel beams in my ceiling. But getting a new kitchen and turning 4 rooms into 1 is very exciting. We have spent the entire weekend packing, moving things out and wishing we had a garage. We don’t. We needed to find homes for everything and it was quite the task. We finally finished at about 9pm and the builders arrive 7.30 tomorrow.
And you know my last post about how in love we are…..um yep well there wasn’t much love by 9 o’clock moving all that furniture around and telling retro daddy he still had things to do. And writing that has just reminded me that I haven’t emptied his sports trophies out of the bar yet! oops better go and do that now.
So, our current kitchen is at the front of the house but we are putting it out the back and turning half the downstairs into a large open plan area. It’s no small job and the builder gets the biggest chunk of our budget
this wall is coming down….and not soon enough
I just asked them to stand together!
this bathroom is coming out
bye bye bar – no retro daddy you are not getting a bar again
wall coming out and sliding doors to be replaced with white french doors
all coming out
I still can’t believe it’s all happening. It just seems as if I was going to have a brown 70’s wooden kitchen forever. Let the fun begin…………
Corrie, I wish you well. And I want the builders to arrive on time and every day too! I also trust that you will have places to go when it all becomes too much. Love D xx
Renovating is such fun. Bring it on.
May they work quickly AND turn up every day.
I read your story in one of those mags (?) it was such a beautiful story Corrie.
PS I am a Sydney blogger in Perth on holidays , so it was in one the piles of swap/book mag & book exchange.
Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out!

Oh, I don’t envy you during this process, hope you get throught it ok. LOL! Waiting to see the end results! Hugs
Can’t WAIT to see this all unfold – thanks for sharing!
Good-luck with everything, it is going to be worth it in the end.
What can I say but you are very brave!! But it will be beautiful when it’s all done! Looking forward to your updates
A garage might not have been any help. We have a garage but it’s already full and the car parks on the driveway. We definitely couldn’t fit half our house into it…. although…. now that I say that…. when we moved into our house the carpet wasn’t down yet but was coming in two weeks, so we packed most of the house into the garage until the carpet went down instead of having to move it twice
I dont envy you either Corrie…well the end result i do. But rennos are hard with little kids. The DUST is amazing and will be with you for a long while yet. Each day hon…just take each day.
Oh, and PS – how on earth do you not have heart failure every time one of your children walk up your staircase ?? Has anyone ever fallen ???
This is going to be one amazing transformation! Looking forward to all the stories and fun times
What goes around…comes around…..although I cant EVER imagine any future generations will wish for exposed brick and BBROWN everything. Never again.
You need a medal for having lived in this visual desert for so long!
Hope you all survive the coming adventure.
Be so very careful – don’t rid yourself of that brickwork and those amazing hung stairs. Are you sure!! We did a massive reno with 5 in situ and a dream builder in 3 mnths flat – per time table – it can be done and can be a wonderful experience – just don’t lose those stairs and think about the bricks xxx
Ooo how exciting Corrie! I love a before, during and after showing :o) Wow, this is going to be fun watching your house transform… may give me some ideas for mine too! ;o) xo
