Violette Field Threads giveaway

Ok, well I love a good giveaway and I also remember what it’s like to be a mummy in small business. Starting out. So when I got the chance to giveaway some gorgeous sewing patterns for a new pattern brand, Violette Field Threads, started by two mummies over in the states, well I jumped at the chance. Look at their dresses. Amazing. So much detail. So pretty. So cute. Would you believe this is suitable for a beginner sewer? I’m not kidding.

Now you all know that we are home of the girly girls here so keira was all over the computer when I showed her this dress. All over. Jumping around like crazy wanting me to make it now. And then I had some crazy idea that I was going to sew a dress for each of my girls, get them to model the gorgeous dresses and share the pictures when I ran the giveaway. Um, that didn’t happen. I will definitely make this dress for my girls but just haven’t stepped into my sewing room lately.

The good news is that the pattern instructions are really easy to follow. Suitable for a beginner because there are lots and lots of photos (perfect when you are starting out or doing a new technique) and full size pattern pieces. And if the pattern pieces don’t fit to an A4 page there are clear instructions how to tape together. Perfect.  And don’t worry if you don’t have an overlocker. You don’t need one. Just a sewing machine. Yes you will need a sewing machine to make this dress.

The lovely girls at Violette Field Threads have given me 5 Stella patterns to giveaway. You can find the pattern details here in their etsy shop. Just leave a comment and tell me what fabric you have in mind for these dresses. I’ll pick 5 winners next weekend. And best of all since their patterns are PDF you can enter wherever you live in the world. Love to include everyone.

Next pattern I want to make after Stella might have to be Viola – honestly I’m thinking Christmas Day, all my girls. Too cute. And can I just say do they have the most stunning models or what. Gorgeous. So pop over to etsy to check out their store and show them some love on their facebook page where you’ll find their latest pattern releases and news. And thanks to the lovely ladies at Violette Field Threads. They were looking forward to me running the giveaway but I know my lovely readers will love seeing these gorgeous designs and sewing with them. I say that’s win win. Happy sewing………….

  1. I think Children at Play by Sarah Jane fabric is just perfect for these adorable patterns. I have a one year old granddaughter and another little girl that is due in November. I would love any one of these patterns to sew up for them.

  2. Oh so hard to choose.. either Sew Cherry, or Strawberry Fields.. what a wonderful pattern!

  3. I saw some fabric recently that would be perfect for this dress, but I don’t know its name. It a brown background, with bright primative birds, absolutely gorgeous.

But if I have to name a fabric range that would be good, maybe Delighted, by The Quilted Fish (Riley Blake Designs).

  4. My little girl is obsessed with purple. She is turning seven and having a purple party. Naturally, her party frock will need to be purple -but just what sort, I don’t yet know. i am open to suggestions.

  5. Love the Voile range of Anna MAria Horner. Would look lovely. not girly fabric for a very girly dress. Saying that LOVE the more Wrenly series in Blue

  6. Oh my word these are gorgeous, I’ve got some Tanya Whelan Dolce fabrics in my stash which I think would be perfect for these. My 2 girls would love them and maybe would let me get on and sew if it was for them – school holidays means no sewing for me :-(
thanks for such a superb giveaway

  7. I am not able to spend much on fabric so I never really get beyond buying from Spotlight :-) I would probably look for something in a very bright blue or aqua for my two girls as they look great in bright colours for summer.

  8. Gorgeous!! I’ve got some lovely thrifted cotton that I would use, white with little candy-coloured stripes, adorable!

  9. I believe I would use some fabric from Aviary2 by JoelDewberry or Kumari Garden by Dena Designs.

  10. I love the new Amelia fabrics that just arrived at Fat Quarter Shop… perfect for these demure, girly dresses. I think I might beordering the new pantaloon pattern too though! Hope I win one to test out!

  12. My daughter loves Mermaids. The inspiration for this project would incorporate her love of this. I have a huge stash of fabric so would love to use some of it on this project. I am thinking bright ocean inspired colours or using bright pink ruffle and skirt and the bodice in a mermaid print bodice. I have been itching to get my machine out so this would be the perfect excuse.

  13. Oh how gorgeous & I totally Love that you don’t need an overlocker!
This would look great with any fabric combo. Is probably also use some Joel dewberry or maybe some riley Blake. Or maybe some meadowsweet. See… So many options!

  15. That dress is gorgeous! I have some very cute pink Hoo’s in the Forest fabric from Riley Blake Designs that would be perfect!

  16. I’m thinking an assortment of vintage fabrics (mainly sheeting) from my stash would look beautiful with this pattern. Thanks :)

  17. The dress is adorable & my 2 girls would just love to wear it. They particularly like the shoulder detail. I would make the dress in a white with pink & green swirls, Curly Swirly by Pillow & Maxfield for Michael Miller for one daughter, and a navy floral for the other, as she looks great in dark colours. Thanks for the chance to win!

  18. I always love Riley Blake fabric and for this dress I think the Love birds range would make the perfect dress for my daughters 3rd bday

  19. I love spots. Spots on children are great! I would be looking to find some spotted material from my favourite fabric store and adding some colour by blocking. Love blocking and happy it’s the new fashion trend!!

  20. I am just learning to sew and I think this dress would look so cute! I’ve found some Art Gallery Fabric in Bohemian Soul Mist Lace for the skirt and frill, and Kona Cotton Natural for Robert Faufman Fabrics for the bodice. Simple and comfortable :)
I would be so proud to make something for the Toddler myself – but to be honet, I’d buy the pattern anyway! :)

  21. I love the off the shoulder look. I would probably make this for my 2 girls in red and aqua colourings. Perfect timing for us to have them sewn up for our oncoming summer. Thanks!

A couple of my friends have just annouced they are having girls and would love to make the Fiona Ribbon Bustle Dress

  23. oh i love dress patterns for little girls and now have one to sew for! i’ve just gone crazy buying a load of sherbet pips and children at play so i’d probably use one of those lines if i had this pattern!

  24. Something ultra pretty to suit the style of this dress. My 6 year old would look so beautiful in this! Thanks Corrie

  25. Embarrassingly, I’ve not sewn a single item of clothing for Eleanor, but this looks like something I’d make! I think it would be perfect in Sandi Henderson’s new Secret Garden range due out any day now. And maybe a bright version in terrain?

  26. Oh my I just squealed with delight when i saw this!!! Im thinking some sherbert pips or the original far, far away by heather ross with the floaty mermaids. Think I still have some somewhere.
You could make it up in plain brown and I think this dress would still be gorgeous.

  27. I found Violet Field Threads just last week on Etsy and purchased their headband and flower pattern! For my cheeky Miss 2, I would choose a bright summery dress in the new Japanese inspired Happy Mochi Yum Yum by Monica Solorio-Snow but for Miss 5 with her strawberry blonde curls it would be Sorbet by Michael Miller! Thanks for the great giveaways Corrie & have a great weekend. Cath x

  28. I would use the most adorable fabric with vintage paper doll clothes all over it that I have in my stash – for the life of me I do not know where it came from either!

  29. I reckon that Windham- “melly and me owls in pink” would be gorgeous for at least part of this dress. Not quite sure what other fabric I’d use though.

  30. Hi Corrie, I am just back from a holiday to Hawaii and picked up some gorgeous local fabric from a quilting shop in Lahaina, Maui. It’s a creamy background with little hula girls, palm trees and pink flowers. I have been looking for the perfect pattern to do it justice and this looks perfect!!

  31. might be some baby pink solids in my stash…

  32. This pattern is so sweet I think I would just have to use Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane Kissing Booth or Porch Swing range.

  33. I can see them in Loulouthi by Anna Maria Horner. Too sweet.
But that doesn’t mean my little monkeys would actually wear them … it depends on the day! A brand new cardigan (very lovely) was cast aside and labelled “ugly” yesterday at 4.30pm but was shown off to Dad and described as “beautiful” at 6pm ?!?!?!

  34. Strawberry fields!

  39. I think it would be lovely in the new Heirloom collection from Joel Dewberry! Darling dress! Thanks for the chance!

  40. I think these would look lovely in Tina Given’s new line for FreeSpirit Pernilla’s Journey. I prefer the Cotton Candy palette for the oh so girly dresses and bloomers.

  41. Thanks for the opportunity. We might use a circle print in pink/brown from JoAnns to make this lovely dress. We have grandnieces from age 6 down to “to be born in two weeks” that would all look so pretty in this outfit. Thanks for the chance.

  42. Ooh! I’ve had my eye on these patterns and really want to try them! I’ve got a few fabrics in my stash that would probably work really well with this dress – For the Birds in charcoal from Habitat, a lovely floral in gray, blue and yellow from Bryant Park, maybe even a vintage floral sheet would work! Fingers crossed!

  43. Oh, how lovely! I have some Patty Young fabric from the Andalucia line that I would love to make into a dress for my daughter! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Now, I need to get down to JoAnn’s and grab some of the super cute summer cottons while they are still out and then keep my fingers crossed!

  46. I have some sugar and spice here that I have been trying to decide what to do with as I don’t have the time to make a quilt with it. This dress would be perfect! Gorgeous parttern

  47. Another dreamy dress for my daughters! I think I would make one with spots for the bodice and stripes for the frill and skirt and change the fabric ways for daughter no 2 – so they look sisterly cute but not too cute!

  51. I would think that Patty Young (modkids) fabrics would work well with this dress. I have a few girls that would look great in this dress this coming summer.

  52. Wow what a pretty dress. I think I would use some of the vintage fabric I recently found in my grandmother’s sewing cabinet. Patterns and twils from the 70’s and 80’s. Can’t wait.
    Kylie

  56. Wow what gorgeous dresses! I am a complete novice sewer but I think with the help of my amazing neighbor across the road I would be able to have a go at these! As for fabrics to use I don’t know names/brands but would take my girls shopping with me and let them pick the fabric for their dresses!

  57. Wow what gorgeous dresses! I am a complete novice when it comes to sewing but I think with the help of my amazing neighbour across the road I would be able to have a go at these! I don’t know any fabric brands/patterns, sorry! So if I was lucky enough to win I would take my daughters with me and let them pick the fabric they what they want their dresses made out of!

  58. The dress is so gorgeous!
Having just started sewing again this year (last time was 25 years ago at school) – I am so excited that you think a beginner can sew this dress. I have some wonderful Japanese Kokka mermaid fabric for my little girl. Ohh maybe that Liberty of London fabric I’ve been saving. Argghh looks like two dresses are in order now! Glad summer is still a few months away I’ll need the time to get them done.

  59. That pattern is sooo cute! I am off to check out their ETSY store too see what inspires me :)
I picked up a paisley, retro piece of fabric on a recent holiday, so I think I can make it work for this!

  60. Adorable! I think I would use Riley Blake Sweet Divinity Daisies on this one.

  61. Something from Anna Maria Horner’s Loulouthi collection…probably Summer Totem!

  62. What lovely dresses! I think I’d use something in my stash for the dress.

  63. Any winners yet ???? Don’t want to buy till I know which way my luck went this week

  64. It would have to be something from the Joel Dewberry Heirloom collection or Hyperreal Garden from Art Gallery. Saying that I have two girls so a dress from each collection would look gorgeous for Christmas!! Maybe they should also make womens size pattern then I could have one too!
