love notes for a knitter

Retro daddy is working away from home at the moment. It’s tough for the little ones because he flies out early monday morning and comes home late friday night. Every week.  And we are really missing him. But it was nice to find an envelope in my letterbox this morning- awwwww he printed out a pattern I’d wanted and posted it down to me.
today's mail

Like a knitter’s little love note. And I bought the pattern here because I know you’ll ask. So thanks retro daddy. I got about 3 hours sleep last night so this really made my day and was a lovely surprise.

  1. Oh so sweet!! I’ve had my darling husband send parcels of goodies he’s ordered for me, from the UK, sent to him in Afghanistan & sent on to Australia, it’s such a cute surprise. Of course, life would be easier if they were home with us every day, sigh, all for a good cause . . . funding our mother-of-4-house-wife lifestyle!! Love Posie

  2. So sweet!

I hope your week goes well. Remember, try to take good care of you, too.

    Sending good thoughts your way!

  3. Awwwww the simple things in life are often the best… so sweet of him to think of you and know you wanted it!

  4. Oh how sweet is that. Retrodaddy is showing some of the other boys up.

  5. Good boy Retrodaddy!!!

Those little things do help when we are flying solo. Hope there are more hours of sleep and rest for you tonight Corrie.

  6. That’s so sweet!

  7. Oh Corrie, you’re a wonder! I know how hard it is to do the single parenting thing when hubby’s are away… and I only have 2 poppets to worry about. Sounds like you’ve got it pretty tough at present.
What a thoughtful gesture by Retro Daddy and a lovely pattern too.
Hope you get some decent hours of sleep tonight and try to take good care, if you can xo

  8. Such a lovely hubbie to think of you in a way he knew you would love :) Maybe its time to relocate to Brisbane and then Retrodaddy wouldn’t be away so much and you’d be closer to me!!! Also cheaper housing! Get that dream kitchen :)

  9. I have had the mama size version for this for over two years, but it seems I keep knitting things for my kids. I have promised myself that this winter I will knit Tea leaves for me! Although, I know my girls would look cute it one their size too. I have heard that is is a lovely pattern to knit, both the mama size and the children’s size. Jacinta

  10. What a beautiful, thoughful thing to do, he must know it’s tough going for you at the moment.

    The pattern looks lovely,

  11. Very sweet. Nice to know that he knows you that well. Cherrie

  12. That is so sweet of him. It must be tough having him away so much. I am sure you will enjoy knitting it, its a lovely pattern.

  13. I already finished three cardigans following this pattern – okay, the adult version of this pattern – and I just LOVE it! If you are interested in an advice: take 3 buttons to close the cardi. I made my first cardigan with the two buttons (as the original description says) and the others got a third button placed between the proposed two buttons – I think that looks much better! But – just have a look and then decide…
