and more things I haven’t told you lately

Well, I always have fun sharing total random things with you that don’t make it onto the blog:

– I need to lose 2 kilos that I’ve gained recently
– It seems odd then that I bought 3 chocolate cookbooks on monday  at the mall
– I’m blaming those choc chip cookies with 250g butter in each batch
– I rejoined the gym after a 3 month break because I was having major zumba withdrawal symptoms
– I did try jazzercise but I didn’t get to shake my booty enough
– the kids are happy because they love the creche at the gym
– they actually cried and screamed after rejoining when they realised they weren’t going that day
– I generally iron uniforms and pack the school bag just before midnight each night
– I’ve decided to grow my hair out a little
– I cut a good 5 inches of keira’s hair off
– I love it short with a big navy bow on the side for school
– I am the canteen bookkeeper at school to do my bit
– Keira would prefer I was on canteen so she could have free lunch
– she is allowed sushi on a friday from the canteen
– I’m only allowed to watch real housewives of NJ when retro daddy is away
– I still love my thermomix
– I’m working on more low fat recipes so my jeans aren’t as snug
– keira has not stopped asking me for a furreal dog called Cookie.
– my frown lines seem to be getting worse this year. I’ve been looking at Restalyne
– I’m not kidding but I’m too chicken and it’s expensive
– I watched Joy Luck Club on Foxtel and cried and cried
– the twins love this. You might want to leave the room.
– there are days when 4 is enough for me
– Elodie is still the easiest baby in the world to please so long as you keep the food comin’
– I’ve had the builder in already to do the quote for our new kitchen.
– It’s going to require the removal of 4 walls, 2 of which are load bearing and removal of an ensuite
– I’ve told retro daddy to keep working. Hard.
– when retro daddy is away my secret to bed time is piling all of them into my bed
– two at the bottom, three at the top
– the key is not to let myself fall asleep
– Elodie sleeps next to me every night and I love it
– retro daddy doesn’t like it. I don’t know why because surely it is a natural contraceptive!

And that is what has been going down here!

  1. Oh Corrie, The Joy Luck Club! I sob each time I watch it where the Mummy has to leave her twin girls behind in the snow! Terrible!!

  2. Corrie – I didn’t know all this stuff.
I have a similar post in my head, spat a bit out yesterday.
I’m am also working on more low fat recipes so my jeans aren’t as snug.
I have gained 2kgs in 2 wks …and I should NOT have made the caramel slice last night.
Hhaha my twins barely even know JB.

  3. Great list! I’ve been trying to convince my 5 year old that shorter hair would be cute, but she won’t be having it.

  4. My daughter really wants a cookie dog. She’ll have to wait for her bday.
I got a bit of a gasp out my mothers group when I told them that my baby sleeps in our bed every night. I love it and surprisingly, so does my hubby. Will start putting her in her cot when this horrible Winter has left us. I love having all the kids in bed with me when hubby is away. They’re only little for so long. I don’t think they’ll want to share a bed when they’re adults.

  5. Love it, thank you for a little laugh. Can I ask, how much is the Thermomix? I’ve looked on the website but there’s no price… a bit scary? They sound so wonderful!!

  6. Corrie, we have the cookie dog and it is ANNOYING!!!!! Also love that you are a fellow co sleeper!!

  7. I love lists like this! And my Annabelle is desperate for Cookie too. I’m resisting as jardiniere as I can.

  8. Haha, you make me laugh Corrie. A great post!
I love how you say sometimes 4 is enough… if I were you, I would be thinking that ALWAYS! ;o)
And yes, little Elodie would be the best kind of contraceptive, we say that about our boys and they don’t sleep in our bed.
Kitchen plans sound exciting… I would LOVE a new kitchen, but until we can get one, I’ll just continue to dream xo

  9. Thankyou for the giggles Corrie! I don’t know what it’s like having four little ones, but one is enough for me atm – you are my hero for still staying sane after a full day with that many nipping at your heels, lol!
You mentioned you wanted to look for some ‘low fat recipes’ to help you lose weight…have you considered cutting out items with ‘hidden sugars’? I have found I have more success when I remove the dense (often sugary and processed) carbohydrates from my diet, even still having ‘full fat’ items, helps me see quicker results. That said, I am a sucker for a good carb-dense item and am currently floating about 20-25kgs heavier than I would like, lol. I know the facts and research…its putting it into practice! Have you read Lysa Terkeurst’s book “Made to Crave”? It’s fantastic – looking at the spiritual issues behind issues with food … and, for that matter, anything that pulls our cravings away from God.
I did want to co-sleep with my daughter when she was born, but since I still have a single bed (only way the two of us would fit in the room with her cot, and now ‘big’ bed) so it wasn’t practical. I was forever paranoid I would fall asleep during night feeds and that she would roll over and off the bed! We still share a room though!

  10. Oh Corrie I love reading this stuff…. The joy luck club I cried and cried too :o( We have a 2.5 year old that sleeps in our bed every night and my 3 week old is starting to like cuddles in the middle of the night too :o)

  11. Oh Corrie! Thanks for making me smile. I love this series of posts – they’re just so raw and honest. Fabulous. Now I want to do something similar. you should be charging a commission! J x

  12. That’s hilarious! I have my newborn next to me at night too. Hubby sleeps with our 20mth old so we are never in bed together… Never, lol. I made choc chip cookies and balked at the amount of butter it required. I’m thinking of growing mine out a little too.
