retro mummy’s ruby giveaway

ok well I’ll say it again, it takes me time to draw my giveaway winners. Really need a PA to do that sort of thing for me I think. Kind of like a personal organiser for this housewife. And if you were on facebook you’d know I needed one yesterday as I was having a mini crisis dealing with our first case of nits. Wet weather, backlog of laundry, 5 beds to strip and wash, 3 heads to treat, no idea what I was doing, retro daddy away, teething baby. I took some chocolate as medicine at about 2 o’clock and hope I’ve killed all those nasties. But back to the giveaway, according to random.org May’s winner is number 51 – Patty from a Stitch in Time. Woo hoo Patty! Well done.
ruby giveaway
And the best thing about announcing the winner is – announcing the next giveaway. So how about a jelly roll and charm square pack of Ruby. The brand new fabric from the clever designers Bonnie & Camille who gave us Bliss. And I’m not sure it’s hit stores yet so you’ll feel pretty special when this arrives on your doorstep. Just tell me what you’ll make with it and you’re in the running to win. Wherever you live in the world and I will draw a winner at the end of the month. Promise.

  108. Forget the fabric – no one has mentioned the nits??!!! Oh dear, poor you… welcome to the delights of school… What a job with your beautiful girls’ hair – I find it hard enough with the boys and I don’t think I’ve really worked out what the best method is. Chocolate is a very handy cure-all…

  109. OOOH I love this fabric. I’m thinking a quilt for my little girl with some bright white solids to really make the colours pop.

I would LOVE this set. Gosh you find the prettiest fabrics. I am going to be boring and say probably a quilt, but i’m thinking a quilt for ME instead of for everyone else. I’m not a pattern sewer, so i’d have to just do what i feel is best with it once it’s in my hands.

  132. I think I’d use them to make the Farmer’s Wife Quilt that is currently very popular in blogland. I’d join the quiltalong. Regarding lice – best trick i’ve found is to put loads of conditioner in the hair every second night for a week or so and comb through with the lice comb. Wipe the comb after each swipe on a nappy wipe or paper towel so you can see if there are any there. Then rinse out the conditioner.

  133. Beautiful colours and patterns. Sooo me… I would love to make a quilt with these fabrics.

  134. This comment has been removed by the author.

  135. A summer quilt for my little girl Ruby’s bed.

p.s a tip with the nits if you have a hair straightener it is worth giving the long hair a hit with the iron as it will really kill any eggs you may have missed. I feel your pain as my little girl had them and she has the same blondey hair that your daughter has and it is thick by the third time I was ready to bring the clippers out.

  136. What gorgeous fabric. I’ve been so busy making quilts for everyone else’s children that my babies have missed out so this fabric would be perfect to make a snuggle quilt for my little princess.

  137. I would make my first quilt!

  138. LOVE that fabric!! I would give it to my daughter to make a quilt with – she’s already made one (completely by hand) and she’s only 13. :)

  140. Thanks for the giveaway! I just love Ruby it is beautiful. I would make a really great quilt with it.

  141. Oh my goodness, that sounds like a NIGHTMARE in mommyhood. O_o I’m glad you got through it with the help of self medication via chocolate, LOL!! Hope the buggies are DEAD DEAD DEAD!

If I win the ruby goodies, I want to try my hand at those huge dresden plates I’ve been seeing around. A jelly roll would be good for that I think! I’d probably make some sweet pillow covers with the charm squares. :) Thank you for the chance to win.

  142. Oh it is so pretty. I would use it to start my second ever quilt, once I finish the first ever….but it is so pretty that I would probably just pat it regularly.

  143. I’m after some bright cheery fabric to make any one of the number of Moda Bake Shop “recipes” I recently downloaded.

  144. I would make a quilt for little girls move to a ‘big bed’!

  151. I’d love to use the fabric in a play floor blanket and toy bag for my best friend who’s just become pregnant. Such lovely fabric.

  152. Oh gorgeous fabric, yes please.
As for knits, thank goodness we haven’t had that disaster since Darwin (up there they are HUGE) but with 3 girls with long hair, kill me now, i can’t stand it. Best trick ever is cheap shampoo, metal fine tooth comb & patience. I cried when we first got them, it was a nightmare & the chemicals affected our only mild asthmatic & we had to call an ambulance, thus my chemical free treatment now. Love Posie

  153. Beautiful colors to make a quilt for the guest room.
