two night baby socks

take a ball of wool, some needles, pull out a debbie bliss pattern book, put on the fire when the kids don’t think it is cold enough, make a cup of coffee, grab some chocolate or biscuits (optional of course), get on your comfiest pyjama pants, put your feet up and knit.

pretty hand dyed yarn

Oh heaven, that is my perfect way to spend a night. And I did. Two actually. It took me two nights to finish these little cuties. I love a quick and satisfying knitting project. And the result……………may I present to you – two needle baby socks for Elodie.

baby socks

Because we lose baby socks at great speed. Like last week when I just opened a little pair of french baby socks with bows on them. I went off to get my toes done and retro daddy took elodie for a walk around the shops in her pram. As soon as he walked up to me I spotted the missing sock. We retraced our steps. Checked the car. Gone. To baby sock heaven. It’s always the good ones! Hopefully these stay on and keep little tootsies warm.

warm tootsies
Mind you they are actually a teensy bit small ……silly me forgot miss elodie is on the generous side! So we might get a week or two out of them but they are so adorably cute that I’m ready to cast on the next size up right now. Yes. Right now. And you can find out more about the pattern and yarn here on my ravelry page. I’m retromummy, surprise surprise!
6 months today
And did you spot the sherbet pips? Good work. You see today I am drawing all outstanding giveaways (ok there are two but well overdue) and tomorrow am launching one humdinger of a sherbet pips giveaway to make up for no march giveaway. Because in all honesty, March has to go down as the worst month ever!

  1. They are just so adorably cute! Which Debbie Bliss book is this pattern from? I would like to attempt a pair for my 4 month old…also on the generous side :)

  2. I mean this in the kindest way possible, but if you want to have us admire your handmades, you have to stop including photos of that absolutely too cute baby girl of yours! Seriously, who can look at socks when there is baby pudge to ooh and ahh over??

    Glad you’re enjoying knitting (=

  3. Oh what cute socks, and Miss Elodie is just gorgeous. Yes March wasnt a good month for many people at all.

  4. Too cute! She does have scrummy little feet (chubby ones are the best!!).
I have chosen a pattern for a jumper to knit my Meerkat and have learned how to cast on…I’m getting there (don’t think it’ll be a quick process though!)

I have been wanting to attempt some socks for a while now but haven’t found a two needle pattern yet.

  23. I love it all, the socks, the sherbert pips, the QUILT (its just gorgeous) and of course the little princess – Elodie!

  24. Happy half birthday Elodie. She is absolutely adorable. I’m kind of going through a clucky stage right now so these socks are right down my alley.

  25. Super cute and cosy!!

  26. Gorgeous socks, gorgeous baby and gorgeous quilt that she’s laying on!! All in all Miss Corrie – a lot of loveliness in your home! xx

  27. Gorgeous colour wool, reminds me of raspberry ripple ice-cream. The quilt in the background makes a lovely setting for the photo.

  28. Happy 1/2 Birthday Elodie! I’ve just ordered some Sherbet Pips..couldn’t resist it. I was just thinking about the problem of socks that fall off and go missing when you’re out. With your handmade ones maybe you could put a chain from one to the other up through the trouser leg (like they do with mittens!) and when one falls off it would still dangle by the chain! The variegated pink yarn makes very pretty socks.

  29. Los calcetines estan realmente preciosos pero Elodi esta para comersela a besos.feliz día para todos

  30. Oh how sweet! I love the Liberty quilt underneath it all too. ♥

  31. Love those socks Corrie – and of course the little model too!

Onwards and upwards from April, May, June …..
