Hullabaloo is the latest range by Urban Chiks for Moda and I ordered 24 charm square packs to go into my store. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, unfortunately Australia Post keeps ‘losing’ my parcels before they reach my customers. I’m now at 7 parcels MIA since late last year and just in the last month 2 different charm square orders have gone missing. So I’m reluctant to post anything unless it’s express or registered post at the moment.
I’m beyond cranky – either the universe is trying to tell me something or a postal contracter has a wife who loves to quilt or japanese fabric. I’ve even tried posting at all different postboxes to see if that worked! Nope, just more time in the car and more petrol. Thankfully, nothing beats the stress of missing parcels than using a new fabric range and I love this range. Pinks, greys, greens, a hint of yellow, polka dots, floral and prints. Perfect.
But then on friday night another new range arrived that I quickly needed to rip open and use. Summer House by a new designer Lily Ashbury, real name Stephanie Carter. This range appears to be very Amy Butler inspired and I hope we get to ‘meet’ Stephanie on her blog and find out more about her. The colours just pop out of this fabric and will make for some beautiful projects.
I’ll be bringing these with me to Mathilda’s Market on Saturday and if any of the SIT ladies want any I’ll bring some with me but I just can’t bring myself to post them out individually since they seem to end up in a big black hole, otherwise known as Australia Post.
I think there’s someone at the sorting centre with a penchant for pretty fabrics!
LOVE the Summer House pieces – stunning! So sorry about missing parcels, that stinks! I hope they turn up.
Oh my god how frustrated. That use to happen to us all the time up in Nebo.
It really is lovely though.
So pretty. I had 3 parcels from a blog giveaway never reach my winners, only time i’ve ever not used Express Post (i charge for it & it’s worth it, speedy & trackable, not to mention pre-paid so no dragging 4 children into post offices, as that is so much fun!!) Have a great week preparing for Mathilda’s & SIT, parking your new fabulous car & everything else that goes on in your days, love Posie
You do know Corrie you can put in a claim for it…I did as a few parcels last year I posted went MIA esp to Tasmania…you have to ring and do a report and wait about 1 month but its worth the wait to claim back some money…
and they don’t have to be registered to claim…
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has had several parcels go MIA the last three months.
Not that it’s great that any go missing but I have been hearing of more and more these last few weeks.
I wonder where it is all going? I don’t even have a business – just waiting for some swap parcels and some winnings.
Gosh, more of a nudge on my latest urge to do more hexagons! I keep seeing them. I am still working on my first hexagon quilt.. getting close! But the more I work on it the more I keep thinking of doing another.. It would take me forever, but what I am thinking of doing, is a hexagon quilt with all of the blocks fussy cut, and with all of the blocks different.. Maybe there is a grand hexie swap out there in my future..
YUM! Love those fabrics!
Sorry about the black hole, er, post office situation! Just think what fun on the day when they ALL arrive at their destination at once!!! [crossing fingers for you!]
lost packages… the stuff nightmares are made of…
i am awaiting a VIP (very important package) at the moment that still hasn’t turned up and i’m terrified it’s going to go missing in the mail i’ve had a few packages go missing in the past year and it’s just horrible! i also think there’s someone who knows about fabric at the post office, who’s building a very pretty looking stash!
Jeez, Aus Post arent doing very well at the moment. I’ve only had probs with one parcel so far-posted it on the Friday and on Monday morning they delivered it back to me. Seems they go the “to” and “from” mixed up. I use the pre-paid satchels and dont tend to have any issues (touch wood).
Dawn is right, you should be able to claim a small amount back for standard mail.
Ah yes…good old Australia post. I feel for you. That is a lot to go missing. In the past year I’ve had $100 worth of underwear and about $80 of maternity items go missing that I ordered. It is very frustrating, isn’t it?
I bet someone is enjoying my Sherbit Pips I ordered from you! This was the first time something didn’t arrive and it is so disappointing. Seems a lot of things go missing in Australia post’s hands. It makes me think that there is someone benefiting from stuff other people have paid for. Sorry to hear you have had more than just my order go missing Corrie. Jacinta
Ok, so there are some fabrics that just really get your attention… they make your insides fizz with excitement. Summer House does that!!! I SO want one.
Aus post has not delivered a few parcels of recent times… kinda makes you wonder where on earth they end up!
One thing to keep in mind when mailing parcels, is to also put the addresses inside the packages as well. This way if the outer wrapping gets torn off, they will still be able to get the packages to where they were suppose to be going. Also look into filing a claim.
Hullabaloo looks just so wonderful! I love it
Thank you for being so kind and re sending my Sherbet Pips. You are wonderful! Jacinta
I noticed at the end of last year that one of my fabric parcels from the United States, went to Thailand first! Why? Who knows! It wasn’t exactly a direct route…fortunately after enquiring and complaining..they must have rerouted it to my place.
I am still waiting waiting for my $85,000 cheque that was posted 6 years ago – that one must be with your fabric.
I am going to SIT and always a sucker for fabric
AP has been terrible of late… either things don’t turn up or they take 3.5wks to get 25km from my house!!
i hope some of them turn up… i’m opting to use registered post more now
saying that the hex’s are gorgeous!!!
Time for a courier with tracking?
Enjoy your blog, and feel your pain with said Australian Postal service, I began using this company http://www.e-go.com.au and found them to be brilliant, bonus is they collect your parcels, and delivery is spot on, and prices are good as well. So much goes missing, you only have to see the news reports
I had a registered post package go missing, contacted Aussie Post to put a claim in (their site said it was sitting at the post office waiting for the person to collect it, lady went in 3 times and it wasn’t there), but because it was a independently owned Aussie Post they couldn’t do anything regarding the claim. Oh and they said they didn’t know why it was saying it was at the post because it wasn’t there. So even registered post doesn’t work lol! hope those parcels turn up!
