Skye reminded me the other day that I’d left off another TV show I’ve been watching lately. Now before you tell me it’s trashy, I know that. But I do find it funny and after a day with my four….well you just need to watch something light and trashy. And laugh.
Especially as it reminds me of my time working in London. There were lots of young lads and some older ‘birds’ from Essex in the back office of the investment bank where I worked. They were a world unto themselves.
My husband rolls his eyes and hides in his study while I watch this. It’s trashy and tragic, but I LOVE it! It’s the new age The Bold and the Beautiful – because, let’s face it – all those characters are struggling to play their 30-something year old characters anymore.
Just goes to show there’s not enough plastic in the world to save all the American TV stars…
Oh shu’up!! 😛
Love this show – it’s my trashy indulgence – alwight?
I love it too! And I swear I worked with an Amy and a Mark back in my days of investment banking in London! When were you in there?
I watched this last night and my most favourite bit was when she read the physic as fysic. too funny, and Jon sat there claiming to just tolerate it while he played Angry Birds, he loves it too I am sure.
Same for me! I loved my crazy Essex colleagues. I don’t get cable, but I bet this show is tops! x
It’s OK, I have this series linked. It’s not out of order. Don’t be jeal.
OK I haven’t seen this I admit but it definitely doesn’t seem like my thing! My sister lived in Essex for a few years and definitely started to pick up the accent…I teased her mercilessly! Now she’s married to a Liverpudlian and is sounding decidedly Scouser!
Oh that took me back! I used to teach in a High School in Essex and couldn’t believe that people actually talked like that! I remember the girls giving me “evils” when I first started and everything was always either “Bang out of order” or “Pukka”!
I love this show, it´s so classically trashy! I can´t decide whether or not to like Mark or hate him…everytime he comes on screen all I can think of is how sleazy he seems!!
And all the girls on it are so attractive but I just wish they would go a bit easier on the makeup and fake tan…oh well…all part of the charm of the show I guess!
That was hilarious! I’ll have to show it to my husband, who was born and bred in Essex.
I lived in Essex for 3 years and taught in a primary school over there. I remember asking the Head Teacher if it was okay for me to correct the children when they said things like, “I aint done nuffink” or “Hey Miss, look what I done!” He responded by saying something along the lines of, “Don’t bother, there aren’t enough hours in the day and, besides, nothing you say will make any difference anyway; it’s the dialect in this part of the world. It’s hardwired.” Well, how bang out of order is that?! My husband is a right geezer, but he doesn’t sound like one when he opens his mouth.
