crochet + cupcakes

moving on from yesterday’s dramas……I decided to pull out the crochet last night and de-stress. And nothing says I’m de-stressing like sitting in your peter alexander pj’s with a spot of crochet, a peppermint tea and chocolate wheatens. I’m on the biscuit diet at the moment, if anyone asks.

But back to the crochet, I’m making a quick pram blanket for miss elodie. Her snazzy pram basinette comes with a cover but it’s a bit too warm for her and also a bit too black for such a pretty little girl. So I’m using my pattern here (gotta love the no sewing together of squares) and bendigo cotton which is currently on sale. I am just in love with one of their latest colours blush….so in love I went back to order another 4 balls just because. But with 3 girls I know it will be used………..eventually.

And it’s halloween tonight and this year I’m taking a break from handing the lollies out. And considering the lolly aisle was almost empty at my local supermarket, I think there will be plenty of neighbours with sweets for halloweeners. But to keep Keira happy I baked some cupcakes (before you call me super mum I used a packet mix, people!) and let her ice and decorate them. It was all that was needed to distract her from the fact that I wasn’t doing halloween.

having fun with all that chocolate

I made one and she did a great job decorating these babies and I love how she did the cross eyebrows! Clever girl. Definitely a great activity for sunday afternoons.

Hallowwen here in England today, so have to cut the pumpkin, and bake cakes with my little man but hes trick or treating with friends tonight so i have managed to escape this time it doesn’t sit well with me. Enjoy those lovely cakes. Dee

  5. Totally cute, i have my guys ice cupcakes too, i figure, if they are going to eat them, the icing doesn’t need to be ‘cake shop/ bakery standard’ but they do a pretty great job!! Angry eyebrows, how funny. Keira’s done a brilliant job. Gosh, hope we don’t get trick or treaters, i’m in my Peter Alexanders already for the night, after an afternoon of lasagne making. We made enough pasta to make fresh fettucine for another night too. Yippee, love Posie

  6. yummo, both the crochet and the cupcakes are looking scrumptious!

  8. I love cupcakes and I especially love chocolate ones. She has iced them really well. I am with you on this one I love the cross eyebrows

  9. What a great idea – looks like lots of fun – We didn’t do Helloween either – I think that it is just too over the top.

Hugs for yesterday too – I would be the same as you – our little ones are just too prescious.

Oh and that blanket is devine – I think that the blush will grow on me when I get over the carissa being axed.

  10. Beautiful colours in the blanket! The cupcakes was a smart idea, she seems to be very happy to do them!
I am so happy Halloween hasn’t taken over the whole of the Netherlands, even though you see them here and there. I am not keen on the skeleton part…

  11. Love the crochet , love the cupcakes ! I just caught up on your previous post and when I read what happened my stomach dropped and my legs went shaky and they weren’t even my kids ! I can’t even imagine how blah you felt , I’m so sorry .
Eloise is looking even more beautiful by the way .

  12. That cotton in your blankie looks lovely and the cup cakes are super sweet xox

  13. Lovely blanket. Thanks for the info on pattern and yard supply. I’m just new to the craft and am struggling with knowing where to buy yarn I like. Glad to hear you are over Saturday’s drama. I had a similar experience with a childminder years ago. It does leave you reeling.
    Super cupcakes!
Hope you have a lovely week.

  14. Oh, the cupcakes are terrific. How clever is Keira!

I like your idea of a biscuit diet… yuuuummmmm…. I don’t know how in the world you find time to crochet with a newborn, but I think you’re just amazing like that Corrie. x
