yes, where do weekends go! You wake up on saturday morning with it all ahead of you and before you know it it’s sunday night and you’re getting ready for the week of pre-school/outings/work and so on. And this weekend flew by. Saturday we did shopping (I now have a few pairs of pretty pyjamas for my hospital bag and a new baby bouncer), odd jobs around the house mixed in with a bit of AFL – secretly I think retro daddy is happy it was a draw because now he has another excuse to get some beer and chips into the house for a saturday afternoon in front of the tv while I look after the little ones!
Sunday was church and we were rostered on reading and morning tea which means getting there early and leaving late but I love the chatting while you’re on morning tea (retro daddy doesn’t see this benefit as he chased the kids around the playground in the sun for an hour). Then it was sushi train for lunch, a bit more shopping as I hunted around for the perfect slippers for my hospital bag (work with me here – I’m in there for 5 nights and everything so far screams grandma not new mother).
And the afternoon was spent doing more jobs around the house including cleaning the pool and washing the weatherboards and windows out the back. I should point out that I sat on the couch and ‘supervised’ the work while doing my knitting. Here is my Baby Kina progress so far, it’s going well (ok I’m not so proud of the edging down the front) and is a quick knit. I should be finished this week and can’t wait to put it in baby’s wardrobe……

We’ve had a tummy bug through the house here this weekend so nobody has slept very well. We’re all hoping for an early night tonight.

Weekends always go too fast. Especially beautiful, sunny ones like this weekend.
Well now… when you look at a weekend as only being Saturday morning until Sunday afternoon, you’re in trouble! For me they start sort of mid Friday (depending on workload at the office) and finish up when I wake bright and chirpy (!) on Monday morning. It helps. x
I think when you have small children the weekends always disappear. It sounds as though you are checking things off your list though which is great. The baby Kina looks adorable and I went and bought the larger sized one to make!
I cant believe the weekend is over again!! Although..with holidays starting tomorrow… im thinking most days will be lay around play days!! xx
Sounds like you got quite a lot done for a busy weekend. I know what you mean though – I’m on holidays and it’s going too quickly.
I do so wish we were heading into warmer weather! Its suddenly dropped really cold here and feels as though winter is on the doorstep! Cute cardigan,I wish knitting was my forte!
Oh nice jammies, can’t live without nice jammies, especially with a new baby, any excuse to spend more time in Peter Alexanders!! Slippers, hmmm, always a challenge, PA does cute ballet flat style ones?? I don’t think i ever wore slippers in hospital when i had babies, they keep you in for 6 nights at Darwin Private for the zero complication deliveries, so i lapped it up, 6 meals a day, king size bed, nappies on tap, yahoo!!
Have to say my children still LOVE being on the inside of a window being hosed down. Never fails. A car wash is also super excting.

pyjamas are a girl’s best friend…our weekend was over too quickly also – my baby’s 9th birthday and coffee and refreshments in the church hall for the Bishops visit…and it seems to be over before it began, as usual!
I’m struggling with slippers for the hospital bag too – everything looks either too pole dancer or nursing home. I saw some cute ones on Pappinelle online, so am going to check them out.
Spending the weekend with husband and kids is my idea about a good weekend, even if it is busy! We do stay in church after service for quite a while and coffee often! Sometimes we even have soup and pancakes!
