Oh what an unglamorous morning….it went something like this. Take all 3 to the doctors – Tillie for her constipation (now I have to tell you this just to show you how unglamorous it was) and Keira for her tummy rash. Finn goes nuts because he can’t eat crackers in the dr’s room and then the dr pretends to tell him off which makes Finn turn into a wimpering mess and need lots of cuddles and reassurance. Ok, next stop newsagency where Finn screams at the top of his lungs to get out of the pram and go through all of the birthday cards (read pull every card out of the display), make a quick exit. Sushi shop where Finn jumps out of pram, loses a shoe and screams out for sushi. Next stop post office, which is bad enough just getting through with a twin mountain buggy and the obstacle course they create with silly cardboard displays and storage units randomly dotted all over the store. Wait in line…right next to 3D Disney books, everyone goes nuts, avocado gets thrown out of pram onto floor with everyone’s sushi wrappers, give in and give them a book and then when we finally get served Keira announces at the top of her voice ‘I’m having an unlucky day mummy’ stamps her foot and crosses her arms and proceeds to tell me ‘ You are NOT coming to my birthday party, mummy’ and in case anyone didn’t hear it (but of course they did because they are all laughing) she says it again! I do my best fake smile to the guy behind the counter and get out of there.
No groceries that I needed and straight to the car at which point I turn around in the car and tell everyone to say goodbye to the mall and that they are never, ever coming back again. No more donuts, no more sushi at the mall and no more treats. Of course I can’t keep that promise and the twins just sucked on their thumbs and stared at me but it was enough to get keira to apologise and ask for a hug!
And so after all of that, I came home to find I had 3 little pieces of fabric in the latest Shop 4 Kids magazine! I love Shop 4 Kids and have been a regular reader since it was first launched! It’s such a great mag full of lovely ideas (read new places to spend money) and I look forward to it – my only wish is they published it more often. I keep every issue and just adore it.
So I’m thrilled to have some fabric in there…I’m down to fat quarters of some of those fabrics but with 60 bolts of new fabrics set to start arriving next month I’m sure there will be something for everyone who pops over to my website from the magazine. And being in Shop 4 Kids has totally cancelled out my nightmare morning!
Ok and a couple of double chocolate cookies…..I totally needed those!
Hi Corrie, Sounds like fun! I have those days but only with 2 kids! Argh. Just writing to say how wonderfully cute all those babies looked wearing your crocheted hats. They were just beautiful photos. I think you should use the photos for marketing your hats. Just lovely.
I think I would have eaten more than a couple of biscuits 😉 Just think…in a few months, you’ll have four to take to the mall, you best take the biscuits with you then, haha.
I can’t tell you how many times I have pulled out the “We are never coming to the shops again!!!” line. But I had forgotten about it, which means it must pass at some stage….. I am pretty sure I will be using it again with Layla soon though.
You poor thing! Thank goodness for featuring in magazines; it’s saved me from completely bad days, too!
I’m afraid to even open that magazine because as you say, it is “more places to spend money” :p
Yay – well done – what a morning. I needed to head into Tangled Yarns but it is raining here and have put it off- need to get in there though – Might have to doa phone order and get Kelly to throw it out the door to me as I do a drive by:)
Love the volkswagon print.
PS – have used that line too LOL. Works every time to gt the 4 yearr old to say sh is sory and want a hug (K and A musthave een seperated at birth -they are so similar:)
Argh! Australia Post is awful for getting a pram through! And I bet you heard lots of “gee, you’ve got your hands full” today – my response to that is always “no, this isn’t all of them, there’s more at school”… people just roll their eyes and smile!
Congrats on surviving your morning! It sounds like we had a very similar time – my son went nuts in the newsagency, where I was actually buying Shop 4 Kids!!! I’ll check you out!
Noah once knocked over one of those huge card displays at the Post Office. It is at the top of my list of places to avoid taking the children.
Knocked over a card display? My eldest who has a very significant birthday in a couple of weeks was with us and his brother, 15 months younger in a hardware store. So think three and two years.
The huge paint mixer with the big circular ring with lots of tubes for mixing various colours was on a stand. There were screams and I turned around to find one had pulled on it and tipped it over. Both were covered in paint colours and what wasn’t on them was running all over the floor.
We got out of there very quickly. Neither was hurt but I thought later that it was not well managed. It should not have been openly available and such a big heavy thing should have been bolted down.
Can you imagine the mess and getting them into car an home? It’s a long time ago now, but I still cringe when I think of it.
Oh I have those kind of trips to the shops and I only have one of two in tow. I am forever being told by DS 5years old that I am not coming to his party. My answer is oh well without me there will be no party cause Daddy is just so not a party person. Anyway tomorrow is another day and take heart in the fact that you are not alone and we all know what it is like. Oh and being in the magazine is fabulous.
Oh dear, i would have been wetting myself if i heard Keira tell you – that you were disinvited to her birthday party (like in 8 months time, sure she’ll remember)!!
I had an equally dysfunctional afternoon with my 4, supermarket, post office, bakery, i just thought to myself, what is going on, plus it was all in the freezing rain, of course!! Something in the air, they are normally, normal??!! Goodness, they’re in school, get a clue guys!! Hugs, love Posie
Oh Corrie thanks for the laugh! I am glad it’s not just me!
