I still remember my very first meeting at Notebook with the lovely Caroline Roessler, the editor. I was so nervous (oh so nervous). I was wondering was Caroline going to be like Meryl Streep in the Devil Wears Prada – thankfully she is so lovely, so sweet and nothing like that at all!
Hubby was waiting for me in the cafe below minding the twins. And I came out and told him they want some help with their new project The Craft Room and would I like to write some patterns for an issue of the magazine. Would I ever!!!!!!! Me, little old me, the stay at home mummy who loves to craft and be the best mummy in the world.
So that was last year and yesterday I trotted out to the letterbox in my pregnancy leggings and ugg boot slippers (very attractive, I know!). I thought I’d get some bills but it was the Notebook issue I’d been waiting all year for. The one with my patterns in there. Too much excitement for one day. I hope you like them. We’ve been over them with a fine toothcomb and those Notebook sub-editors are amazing at finding things you thought were perfect……..and weren’t!!!!!!
So rush out and get a copy (well I think it will hit the newstands next week)! If you live overseas and would like me to buy you a copy and post it out just let me know. I know quite a few of you have been asking me for my dress patterns so here they are! And now I need to get my little butt into gear to design a new dress for my markets this summer. Happy reading………………..
So exciting, can’t wait to get a copy, I’ll have to send it up to you to autograph!!
Congratulations Corrie! I’ll be stalking the mailman on Monday waiting for my copy to arrive!

Hi Corrie
Congratulations there is nothing wrong with being a stay at home mum – I loved it (they are now almost 30, 28, 25 and 23) Good luck with number 4 when she arrives. I will look for with interest the next issue when it arrives.
As one follower to another keep up the good fight you
Oh well done isn’t it great to get such lovely positive feedback although it worries me that your the second peron in the blogosphere to make comment on others being nasty…whats going on? Blog land is a happy land please lets mind our P’s and Q’s and play nice!
Congratulations Corrie! You are a wonderful crafter… and if I knew you in person, I know for sure I would ABSOLUTELY think that you are an equally wonderful Mummy… negative comments for you can only come from one being jealous of your accomplishments… Pay no attention and revel in your success… You should be so very proud of yourself, keep up the fantastic work!
So proud of you Corrie! How thrilling it must be for you and your family/friends to see retromummy in a magazine! I think you are Australia’s answer to Martha Stewart! :)))
Anon should not let other people’s success drag her down. Everyone should have a chance to shine! Keep up the great work, it’s all appreciated xxx
This looks like an amazing article. I’m looking forward to buying copy. Well done!
Well done Corrie. I will be sure to pick up a copy of it. I love that pattern and have some fabric to go with it. So exciting for you
Definitely buying it, I’m going to make those dresses for my frills for sure! Congratulations Corrie!
Poor Anon, feel sorry for them. Obviously very toxic and bitter. Hope you can let it go and make your own path
What a great achievement. Congratulations. It is a shame some people just want to spoil the party. Especially those who are too afraid to even leave a proper name. We should have a delete button for those nasty comments. I can’t wait to get out to the shops for a copy of mine!
Hi Corrie,
So pleased for you. I’m one of the ladies wanting one of your dress patterns. I now have a great excuse to buy the new Notebook!!

The article looks great Corrie, well done. Funny how someone who wants to be negative doesnt have the guts to put their name with it! Dont let it get you down.
Wow, congratulations Corrie! I read the Notebook Magazine periodically too so I am definitely going to watch out for the next copy now.
I am so buying Notebook, can’t wait to buy it now. Who is this nutter who says mean things. What a loser they are. Jealousy is such a dreadful thing. I doubt they have a blog that so many people read.
Corrie, Congratulations on being in print – you put so much effort into being an amazing Mum, inspiring crafter, fantastic cook and great blogger! Thanks for sharing it all with us – must get a copy of the mag this week. The people you continue to inspire each day far outweigh the ones who are jealous of your success! Cath R
Wow, being in a magazine must be great, I can see why you are proud. You should be! I am sorry my girl is too big to wear dresses…
Congrats on all of your success Corrie! I do buy Notebook, now & then, but will be picking up this month’s copy for sure! I bet all copies will be sold out Nationwide thanks to your amazing work & fantastic blog!

Hi Corrie, Wow that is so exciting. I think I might buy Notebook this month! Congratulations. As for Anon… these issues will come up in business and you’ve got to put them behind you. As you are doing! Keep creating and following opportunities.
Congrats Corrie!!! I will have to buy this magazine now
so lovely and doesn’t your picture look gorgeous too?
WELL DONE!!!
OMG! Congratulations! I am so happy for you. Too bad I don’t think they carry this magazine at my bookstore in the US. I would love to make that dress for Melody. But I am going to check the bookstores anyways, just in case.
Oh Corrie a super huge congrats to you!! You deserve every spark of success and happiness….bravo!!! And to anonymous….insert raspberry noise here!! Be gone party pooper…this Retromummy is a LEGEND!!!

I’ve been following your blog for a while now and this must be so exciting for you. I look forward to reading the article.
I should note, I dont really sew but I love your fabrics…although I did make some mini bean bags for my sons 5th birthday recently. One day you might just inspire me to be brave and try making something (other than bean bags).
