Any excuse to use my new machine….and I’m making a simple cot quilt – well we’ll probably call it a comforter since there is no patchwork! I’m quilting 2 large pieces of co-ordinating fabrics from the Darla range (one of my all time favourite ranges). It’s looking so pretty and is for the new baby but keira is already trying to take it as her own. I have actually already quilted most of it but thought it made for a nice picture under my machine.
I figure if I start now I’ll have a little assortment of baby things made and ready to go. My new machine is a dream – a little face with a tear comes up to tell you when you’ve made a mistake (how very japanese and cute) and the machine stops and a message comes up telling you you’re about to run about bobbin thread which is just a dream when you’re quilting. Oh how I could go on about the machine but all retro daddy says is ‘have you got your old one up on ebay yet’ – oops!
Very clever, Corrie. With quilting like that the single piece of fabric looks stunning. I would love to be able to do that – one day, maybe. I’m sure you’ll have plenty of lovely things ready in time for baby! Have fun! x
I love that fabric, and I love that your machine is a little cheeky like that. How cute! x
Looking lovely.
I would LOVE a machine that tells me my bobbin thread is about to run out.
I HATE it when that happens and you merrily keep on quilting for who-knows-how-long!!!
What lovely fabric, l wish l could do free motion sewing but it never goes right maybe you will inspire me to try again.
Have a great week Pat
Oh that is beautiful Corrie. Love the sound or the teary face it is very cute!
Oh your machine sounds very cute 😉 I love the fabric you are using for your new little one. I hope she gets to use it before her big sister takes it!
what sort of needle do you use for free motion quilting?
Great work, Corrie!
Kind of in love with the machine telling me when the bobbin is about to run out, like a fuel light on the car, but i know i’d still chance it!! Love Posie
Beautiful fabric – I’ve seen it on dresses and it looks so good.
Hi there! I found you via Chantelle. That quilt is absolutely divine. I love the colours!
I noticed you are teaching at The Craft Room. Do you happen to know when The Craft Room is heading to Melbourne? I’m dying to learn how to quilt but can’t find any weekend classes.
Thank you
I’m having machine envy. Your quilting looks wonderful. I’ll have to read up the instruction book and try it on mine. Sometimes the simplest quilts end up being the favourites. That fabric is lovely for a new little girl.
Someone telling you your bobbin is almost finished. That is a dream come true! Keep tight on the quilt, Keira is so strong. Maybe it helps if you tell her over and over it is for her little sister… And she can cover her with the quilt when she goes to sleep!
Looking lovely.
