long time readers know I just don’t sew for boys! A lot of sewing goes on but for Finn there has been nothing. But for one of my projects coming up I needed to get out the brown paper, french curve ruler, pencil and eraser and put my patternmaking skills to the test…the first size was a baby size and I went up from there which I find is the easiest way to go…..I decided a slimline, nothing fancy pant was the way to go….
and here is Finn’s size from the rear….made up in a Michael Miller print I picked up a while ago from fat quarter shop (I found some on etsy for those of you who love it)….soooo cute and I must admit it is cute to sew for boys. It may not be pink but the results are still cute! I’m sorry to say my patternmaking teacher has packed up and gone back home to Japan but you’ll find local community colleges offer basic classes that set you up with the basics, lots of homework, the tools and a great understanding to help you make your own patterns. I loved all the maths and right angles!
This is the smallest size made up in cute chambray that was 50 cents at that amazing garage sale last year!
Snazzy. I haven’t sewn much for PAtrick either but my Mum made up for that, especially in the pj department.
Gorgeous Corrie, I love that monkey fabric. I am absolutely taking a pattern course this year – most of the time I just wing it which isn’t really the way to go!
So cute!
Nice, love the fabric!! Where did you find it?? (The monkey fabric). Nice blog…
Super pants Corrie, I love those monkeys on the fabric. Pattern making sounds like fun and hard work mixed together. I hope you make some more boys clothes as when Lachlan was little I used to visit the markets to buy him cord pants which I loved as they were extra warm in the winter and lasted well too.
Those pants are great! Well done!
how cute!
don’t you find it’s hard to find cute but not cutsy fabric for boys? there are so many cool patterns an fabric for girls out there and as a mother of three boys it makes me really cross!!
I hear you Corrie, i’m constantly having customers at markets grimacing & asking “where’s the cool boys gear??” & what can i say, but i have 3 daughters & one son, so my business if very much 75% girlie:25% boys gear. Thus my speciality in cowboy prints.
My boy did get some cute jungle jammies from Peter Alexander for Christmas, but handmade, i kind of have to be begged for boy’s things.

Monica – as a mum to two boys I agree. I find it much harder to find fabric for boys that doesn’t look like pyjamas.
I am a pattern winger like Sophie. I do love sewing boys pants though, such quick gratification and my son absolutely lvoes everything I make for him, where as princess requires a little more negotiation
Happy New Year hugs to you Corrie. Your craft output over Chrissie/ NY has me in awe as things have ground to a real halt around these parts….
(The boys pants are great and I particularly love the Nicey Jane quilt).
Omigosh, that fabric is adorable!
It’s so difficult finding things to make for boys and I love these pants.
Were they difficult, i’ve never attempted any form of clothing before.

Love the pants – I am going to make an effort to sew more for Baden this year. I made the kids christmas outfits and got SO many comments.
Will have to have a look around and see if there is a pattern making course here – that has been on my wish list for a few years:)
They look great Corrie… I don’t think I have commented on the new look of the blog yet either …I love the patterned strips down the sides!
Very cute! Love those monkeys! I’ve made my son some cloth pants during the summer, unfortunately he grew out of them all ready… looks like I need to make some more!
very cute!!
Finn will look adorable.
Boys funky pants-what’s not to love? 😀
Very cute Corrie! I love that adorable little monkey quilt. Having been not blessed with girls, I had to make do with sewing for boys. There were some fun things along the way, but it’s just not as fun as sewing for girls!
The children just reminded me they play Marco Polo in the pool, i’ll have to grab that fabric, monkey & swimming, too perfect!! Love Posie
