I’m sometimes so embarrassed with the quality of the photos on my blog so now I’m on a mission to take the time to take better photos!!! Today I decided to play around with the macro function which is the little tulip icon on your camera…..first up was keira up close and personal complete with a bit of muck on her face.
and here is my absolute favourite flower, the classic and very retro hydrangea…
I received this lovely plant today from retro daddy….
he was a right old cranky bum this morning and walked in this afternoon with this beauty and all was forgiven
If I had my way I’d have a garden and house full of hydrangeas….
hydrangeas? Really??? Is now a bad time to confess that the first gardening thing I did in this house was to rip out the hydrangeas?!?!?
Hydrangeas are my favorite too! They don’t grow well here in Alaska, so I am waiting for a yard full of them when I move back to the Pacific Northwest! I can’t wait! Your hydrangea is just gorgeous!

I love hydrangeas too, not so good in our sandy soil but I have two that struggle when it gets real hot over summer. As a kid on a farm hydrangeas were scary things, snakes invariably took refuge under them and scared the pants off me when I was playing around in the yard.
You will love macro work, I do it regularly, I love examining our world in close-up.
I have never been a fan of hydrangeas until I saw your pictures. I had no idea how gorgeous they could look (I am not a fan of the colour purple). Yours are beautiful! Keira’s pretty cute too!
Hydrangeas have a soft spot in my heart, also. When I was little, the lady who lived behind my grandparents (she was also the mother of my godmother) had gigantic deep blue hydrangeas that were taller than I was. This was in Rhode Island and the soil there is nearly black – anything will grow there if it just sees that soil, nevermind actually gets planted in it! When I bought a house here in Georgia, I planted hydrangeas and wept for the lack of beauty that ensued. Ah, they will never be as lovely as Molly’s. Now I am in a rented townhouse and haven’t planted anything outside because I keep thinking (every time I renew the lease) I’ll just be there one more year…but the years keep piling up and I’ve yet to plant my beloved hydrangeas. Fortunately, I have a rose bush that nearly covers my front windows which was there when I moved in, so all is not bare. Perhaps I shall break down and plant some but, in the meantime, I shall live vicariously through you and quietly adore your bounty.

Another non-fan of hydrangeas here too, although we have a few in our very English garden (came with the house we bought).
I just have to ask, Corrie: was that an animal hair in the close-up of Keira? Was it on the lens, or sticking out of her nose??? (Don’t worry, neither would faze me in the least – I have 3 Jack Russells, and if there is not at least one hair in every close-up shot I’ve ever attempted, I would be surprised!)
