loving my new lens – 25mm f1.8

Well  the very lovely people at Olympus gave me one of the latest lenses as a little baby present. Thank you.  And so I was straight out there today to get some photos (minus one little model who naps for at least 2 hours after a preschool day). I’ve given back the E-M10 and am back to using my E-M5 and I usually keep the pro lens on it (12-40mm f2.8) at all times as it takes amazing photos and is a great all rounder for me.

My new lens is a 25mm f1.8 and in a nutshell gives you that nice blurry background on photos.

It took a bit of playing around with to get the light and everything right and adjust everything to get the 1.8 aperture but oh boy does it deliver when you take some photos.

Focus on the flower and blur the background? Check.

This lens really is lovely and will be great to use when taking photos of the little ones and our latest addition as well. I haven’t edited any of the photos and I think the colours are just lovely. This could become a favourite of mine. And of course taking photos of the kids always ends up in silliness

What’s your favourite lens? I think this is my new favourite…………

Firstly Corrie, love that lens, a photo freak I might just get me one, secondly, congrats on the quilt, looks great and Camille visit was timely for you, lovely work, I’m inspired to get and do one of those patterns.
Thirdly, sorry, too many questions the photo when you are sitting stitching your binding is that an Ikea lounge, if so, I have the same one we recently bought it and after searching every furniture store in Brisbane we settled on that lounge and it is so comfy for me when I knit and sew, but unsure if it is the same one.
Have a great birth and time when you welcome in your new bub, its so exciting, all the best.

    • thank you Lyn, lovely to hear from you!
Yes it’s ikea and I love it. Very comfy, was probably a mistake getting the white in it but the covers can be a bit hard to find. I’d love a 2nd one. In my dream world I’ve have 2 white couchs with quilts on them but who am I kidding – white couches and 6 kids!!!!!

      thank you
      Corrie;)

Yes Corrie, white and kids but the Ikea white are washable, worth noting, we got the Dralon in a beige colour and I am loving, I didn’t want leather and this is great, when I am feeling like a change I can buy another set of covers.
We weren’t buying on price either so even better that it cost the same as one single leather chair…we bought 3 seater, 2 singles and the ottoman its for our family room so perfect as it is casual.
Well I am knitting for the 1st time a v neck with a circular needle, interesting as I have never used a circular needle before, its for my grandson, this is the 3rd jumper this winter, they live in Ballarat, so cold, but oh I love Ballarat, I could move there tomorrow.
Happy family Corrie, may you be blessed in all you do, Lyn

  5. Corrie, your children are growing so quickly ( just as mine are!). That photo of Keira is simply stunning.

Great photos corrie, lots of great memories to treasure. Can see Tilly is a mini version of yourself : )

I love Tillie’s hair cut too – very cute, and I’m sure very easy to maintain (easier to wash and brush). Gorgeous pictures of your cute kids.

    • thank you and yes sooooo easy! I used to think people would think I was torturing children when I was trying to brush hair as some of the kids are so sensitive to having their hair brushed! no problem with the bob:) :)

  8. Wow the twins are just ‘mini-me’s’ of you & your hubby Corrie!! :) I just had a Pentax point & shiit camera, but have lost it :( (with a years worth of photos on it!) I’d love to get a better camera & learn to take better photos! Maybe I’ll get lucky for Christmas with our first new little Grandbaby due :)

    • hahaha thank you yes people do say that about those two, they are such an old married couple too and so funny together. I definitely think you need another camera before christmas, it’s so much fun changing lenses and the cameras today are so easy to use but take such great quality pics
how lovely to become a grandma!!!!!!!!!
      Corrie:)

Your children are so beautiful and you have captured them so well. Keira’s eyes are so blue!! Thinking of you lots at the moment as you await your next little treasure :)

  10. Absolutely gorgeous photos! The colours, the clarity and of course those subjects! Gee you and Retro Daddy make beautiful babes :-). Finn is a miniature of Daddy for sure!!!! and that bob cut!?! Too cute.

  11. Looks like a great lens Corrie. Nice that your kids are still happy to smile for photos. My boy just pouts these days when I ask for a photo!

  12. Good things come to those who wait :) I’ve seen your posts about doing photographic workshops and thought ‘if only’. Well we are now in Broome and there was one spot left in a full day photographic tour of Broome and surrounds, finishing with sunset on Cable Beach…had my name on it I think! Can’t wait :)
