starting the fabric clear out

I’ve re-opened my online store here to start clearing out all the fabrics that have accumulated over the years. Some of them are fat quarters from when I did markets, some are fairly new additions as I’ve still been purchasing fabrics while not running the online store and they are making way for over 20 bolts of new fabrics from Lecien. I’ve missed selling fabrics but also don’t have the energy or time to run a store all year around.

So I’ll sell fabric from time to time…..and now is one of those times. I’ll list some more as the week goes on. All prices include postage in australia and will be posted in prepaid satchels to you with some fat quarters stuffed in. I can’t tell you how many tubs of fat quarters I have…………….

  1. Love your work Corrie! I’ve only just discovered your blog and am really enjoying it. I wanted to ask you about getting started with quilting. I have long admired it but never done it. I do sew however (just an amateur though). Would you be able to recommend any particular books that could get me started with quilting? I would need everything explained, beginning with cutting out – do you have to be sure to cut on the straight grain etc so that the whole quilt doesn’t end up skewed to one side? And what types of wadding/padding work best? I have lots and lots of Liberty tana lawn (my favourite fabric ever) remnants that I’d love to turn into a quilt one day.

    • oh yes the best book every is this one The Practical Guide to Patchwork: New Basics for the Modern Quiltmaker, 12 Quilt Projects Paperback
      by Elizabeth Hartman (Author)
best ever and tell everyone to get it and wish it was around when I learnt how to quilt

save those bits of liberty as you could turn them into a lovely quilt but I think for starting out use a quilting cotton and work out what you like
I find charm square packs super easy to learn as the cutting is done and you just sew them up

the book above tells you everything you need like a cutting mat, rotary cut, ruler and machine basics and there are lots of youtube tutorials as well. my favourite are by missouri star if you google them

hope that’s all! let me know how you get on and you will love that book, I promise
      Corrie:)

      • Thanks for your reply and advice. I have put that book on hold at the library and am looking forward to learning this skill!

  2. Sorry – my comment above is about patchwork AND quilting – I meant to say both rather than just quilting. Look forward to your reply.

  3. Hmmm….I really need to do some craft study, “dresden” is a new word to me?!
These fabrics are gorgeous but I think I should buy a machine first.
I hope your new year is a happy one xxx

    • ohhh if you need help buying a machine just ask. You can’t go past the brother ns range which you can get at spotlight and have some great features. The NS10, 30 and 50 are all great. Just let me know if you need a lesson:)

  4. Just wondering where you sell these fabrics? Is it here on the blog or elsewhere? I’d like to purchase some!
