I just love this photo I snapped this morning……….it says so much about life in this family. Always someone to play with and muck around with. This morning we had lots of excitement with our big van being towed away for a few days and a different van without any carseats is always exciting. It wasn’t that exciting having a towtruck driver rock up at your front door early sunday morning and you haven’t emptied out the car of prams and carseats but we did it. Of course our van was crumb city with the odd McDonalds french fry on the floor.
There is always something going on around here and this weekend was nothing different. Keira had been sick at school during a writing workshop with her favourite author on friday, I’ve never had to collect her from sickbay or needed to offer up my cleaning services to the school. So the poor love spent most of the weekend on the couch sleeping. Then this morning she told us it really hurt swallowing and sure enough her tonsils were looking nasty. Antibiotics and some more rest and TLC and she’ll be back to herself.
But she did have to get off the couch as today was her presentation mass for confirmation which basically involved standing in front of the congregation for 2 minutes and then the priest saying ‘is there anything else? I think that’s it!’. Later in the day keira told me she wished our regular priest had done it or our young korean priest as he would have passed the microphone amongst the 50 or so kids to get them to introduce themselves and then high fived them all. But it was a proud moment anyway.
Keira making her confirmation does mean we are making sure she sits and stands at all the right times and tries to pay attention and can’t act like the twins anymore. The one thing she does love about her church apart from finding her friends is the singing. I point out the words in our hymn book and she belts out the hymns so I think we have a little choir girl on our hands. She’s growing up and I love it. Well they are all growing before my eyes……………….
The weather here has been just gorgeous so we’ve been soaking up a bit of sunshine. I love having some garden and grass at our house and it’s always a great opportunity to get out the camera and practice on manual …..
hint hint mums, get out the camera whenever you can. It can be hard at first to try to grab special moments in manual mode on your camera when you’re starting out (and trust me I’m finding my feet). But I’ve found that if I sit and get the light and shutter speed right that I just wait for stuff to happen.
This guy never sits still or wants to be photographed but today he was coming up to talk to me about trees and Jesus and actually let me get a few photos.
and then one hour later he was being a total boy again
never a dull moment in this family………………..I hope you had a great weekend too, wherever you are!
