two new knitting books added to my library

I love knitting books but once you’ve get a few…..OK once you have a good collection like yours truly, you get a bit picky about new ones. And it’s been a while since I’ve bought any new baby or kids knitting books. But I’m happy to report that my last 2 purchases were worth the wait. The first one I’d been waiting for and since it’s all about knits for little people and their little dolls I knew I’d love it. Just Like Me Knits is by the clever lady Brandy Fortune who is behind Pixie Purls.

The patterns in the book are super cute and are things that I would want to make for my kids. Sizing ranges from size 1 or 2 up to a 10 or 12. Yes a 10 or 12!!!!  And there is a nice range of patterns – jumpers, this hoodie, socks, hats, knitted clothes and a cute shrug too. I am loving this hoodie for elodie.

And the dolly patterns are super cute and being small means you have more likelihood of finishing.

Next up is a lovely book by Norah Gaughan and the Berroco Design Team called Comfort Knitting & Crochet – Babies & Toddler. There are 50 patterns which are either knitted or crocheted and there is a lovely range of blankets. I’m in  a blanket mood at the moment and that’s why I picked the book.

The patterns range from easy to more advanced with some colourwork and intarsia going on in one or two of the blankets. Oh and there is a super cute knitted onesie that would be adorable.

It’s a beautiful book and especially if you love knitting for babies and as presents.  Read any good knitting books lately? These two are just lovely and so glad I bought them.

Love baby knitting books that go into the bigger sizes:)

    • yes!!!!!! me too! that’s why I love that patterns go up to a 10 or 12 as the whole family is covered here:)

  2. Accidentally found your blog, read, I like, I remain a regular reader to read your news and see interesting pictures!
I love to knit myself, husband and daughter. I have a daughter is grown up – she is 18 years old, but I have a little niece (4 years) Now I’m knitting her dress the cool weather. She is with us in kindergarten.
Thank you for your interesting pictures!
My name is Katherine, I’m from Russia

  3. I love making blankets too. i just became a ‘great’ aunty this week & am in the middle of a Tirimisu blanket by Alicia Paulson. Lovelt pattern.

You’ll certainly be working hard if you make a rug for each of your kidlets Corrie :)

    • oh I love that pattern, I have inherited my mum’s crochet container and she was working on one for one of my babies! enjoy!
oh yes I might give each kid a blanket by the time they leave home the rate I get knitting done these days:) enjoy knitting for the new baby in your life:)

  4. Doll knitted clothes actually look more scary but maybe it should be where I start as I can practice all the techniques in a small time frame. Thanks!

  5. Oh I’m very interested in the Just Like Me one.
My girls are out of the baby books now and I’m always hunting for cute new knitted patterns for them. Are they written for straight or circ knitting? x

    • good question! just flicked through. doll patterns all circular and just the red jacket that I’ve shown is on straight needles and the sizing for that one is 1-8 and also a pinafore is on 2 needles. Rest are all circular or dpn :) It’s a lovely book and one I’ll be using a bit for my little ones. If you go to ravelry and put the book title in the pattern search it will bring up patterns in the book too but I’m sure you do that anyway:)

Love the look of these. Isn’t it great to find a book with sizes that go up to 10-12 ! Will definitely check it out. Looking forward to seeing some more knitting on your needles 😉 x

  7. Wow – a size 12 is fantastic! It is so frustrating finding girls patterns that are in the larger sizes. My 9 year old is tall, but is still a little girl. It’s so difficult to find her size in styles appropriate for her age. I think I need to buy those books and employ my friend to knit some things on my behalf!

  8. Oh, they look gorgeous, especially the hoodie and the pinafore!
Would you believe I don’t own a single knitting book, I know, it’s terrible! I do have an increasing number of patterns and am always on the lookout for books at the library though :)

    • oh I have a bad thing with craft books! I’m much better than I used to be but I have been collecting them for over 10 years or so:)

  9. So glad you like the book, can’t wait to see what you knit from it 😀
