handmade hand me down

One of the lovely things about making things for your little ones is handing them on to the next baby. Take this sweet jumper modelled by Elodie. It’s the placket necked jumper from Last Minute Knits and I knitted it up in Charisma which was a Bendigo backroom special. See, you aussie ladies need to get yourselves to Bendigo and that backroom. I don’t lie. Ravelry details are here.

Unfortunately, when the twins were babies I shrunk this little number in the wash. Then while I was clearing out wardrobes this week I found it and just in time to get some wear from it before Elodie grows out of it.

Then I realised Elodie was wearing pants that I had made for her. So I don’t feel too bad that I haven’t been making as many clothes for my little ones as I would have liked. As you can see we had some fun accessorising. Tiffany silver teether that was given to Keira and lives safely in it’s box and pink ear muffs from obaibi.

Retro daddy didn’t let Keira buy pink earmuffs from Gymboree last winter and I lived to regret it as she’s been asking me for a pair ever since. They suit her sweet little face. I also love that she’s wearing a poncho crocheted by her grand mummy, my own mummy. I will treasure it so much now that she’s gone and am so happy my girls love wearing it.

Anyway, you crafters know the pride that comes from making something and seeing it worn. Now I feel like casting another placket neck jumper I love seeing it so much. It’s a lovely pattern both to knit and wear.
