Elodie’s baptism

Well, I always get my babies baptised when they’re little bubbas and I say I’ll never do it again. And then the next baby arrives and I do it all over again.

This time around things were a little easier as I outsourced a few things and also had it at 11.30am instead of 9am mass and it made for a much more relaxed day. Little miss was wearing Keira’s baptism dress, a little Petit Bateau linen number from Paris.

the dress

Pretty, simple and no frou frou. I accessorised with a last minute headband from the french kids store near home and some little shoes too but they didn’t last long.  She might need a few pointers from Keira on accessorising outfits.

special girl
Miss Elodie wasn’t a happy girl this morning and as soon as we arrived at church I was getting nervous. I had a little chat to her that her brother and sisters didn’t cry at their baptisms so if she could do the same that would be lovely.
uh oh
And here is her special moment…………..keeping her from crying kept me from getting teary and emotional.

After the ceremony and posing for photos (and having my priest tell me how tired I am looking and that I should rest up!) it was time to race home and open the  house for lunch. And to make this as easy as possible I had the lovely Liss from Frills in the Hills do the catering. It was gorgeous, everyone loved the food and as retro daddy put it, it was the least stressed he’s ever seen me before a party at our house.
We had blinis with smoked salmon and cream cheese, frittatas, gourmet sandwiches, homemade dips and crudites and lemon slice. And as you know food tastes so much better at your own party when you haven’t made it! I even squeezed in a glass of pink champagne after feeding the little miss……oh how perfect that was! A big thank you to Liss, it was just what we wanted!
love a family get together
After lunch it was time for the cake, oh my the cake! I almost think it deserves a blog post all of it’s own it was so special. Julie the cake decorator had made the cake for our wedding (and my sister’s) and this was so much prettier than I could have imagined.
Pretty in pink and white with a lovely rich chocolate mud cake underneath…..it was perfect!

Just like the day! Elodie was a little doll and there were plenty of people to get cuddles from. All in all a most perfect day and definitely the most relaxing baptism and party we’ve had here.

See, after 4 kids you’ve got the Christening thing down-pat – any chance of talking retrodaddy into no 5? :)

  2. What a small world – We lived in Sydney for 2 years and our son went to St Cecilias where Fr Peter was the Parish priest – looking at your pix and there he is !

  3. Oh Liss’s food looks amazing, you sister is in a super cute frock, the children looked fantastic & you’re doing so well with the delegating, i konw it’s a big deal when you’re capable & used to managing it all, so snaps for you my honey!! Kisses to Justin too as he holds those twins up, i’m still so disappointed my arms are better toned after carryings twins around – they still like to be carried, they are 9!! I could be a weight lifter!! Love Posie

  4. Oh, sorry, the cake, perfection!! Love Posie

  5. It all looks amazing Corrie! Baptism’s are so very special and little Elodie looks like an angel in her Baptismal gown. The food and the cake look amazing – without the catering stress you no doubt enjoyed the day so much more.

Congratulations to you all & blessing to Elodie.

    mel xx

  7. I dream of a party catered by Liss! Maybe if I fly her up here next year for my 40th?? (never mind she’s never met me in person!) And that cake is gorgeous! Love the name icing!

  8. A perfect day…beautiful kids and parents, friends, amazing cake and I love the tablecloth!…Did you make it from some of that delicious fabric you have? It even coordinated with the food!

  9. Sounds like a beautiful day Corrie and it does sound like you get more organised with every baby! She looks adorable in her beautiful dress and the cake looks amazing too!

  10. Sounds like a lovely day – I love the Christening dress Elodie wore and am glad you got the lunch catered so you were less stressed and able to enjoy the celebrations yourself. The cake looks stunning!

  11. umm – that cake … takes the cake!

    I love it.

Looks like you had a marvelous day for your littleist girl.

    xx Amy

  12. I love Elodie’s Christening dress… just beautiful… sometimes less is more :) I’m not a fan of lots of lace and frills.
    The cake is gorgeous!!!!
Glad you had a stress free party…. aparently you need to rest up ;D Did the priest really say that????

  13. Is it inappropriate to say ‘mazal tov’ to you all on this most special day?
    Andi xx

  14. I have just recently started following your blog and I absolutely had to leave a comment to say what a gorgeous, gorgeous baby you have! Sigh! Makes me feel clucky!

  15. I am smitten with that little dress and that cake!! What a lovely day ox

  16. Gorgeous Corrie – so glad you delegated too so that you could enjoy the celebration a little more.

Thanks for sharing Elodie’s special day with us.

    Christine xo

  17. What a great idea to have it catered? I think I’ll be stealing that idea for #5. We always have the baptisms early too and it’s such a mad rush to get everyone ready and out the door let alone the house neat and food prepared for when everyone come back after the service.
Elodie looks so beautiful and I love the pic of you all at the font. I see a Jamberoo Abbey candle, all my kids have those, aren’t they lovely?

  18. Oh, Corrie! What a challenge for you, juggling four little personalities at once, hoping they’ll all behave. I know what it felt like to get three organised for Sammy’s christening – I really feel for you ☺. I’m so pleased it worked out so well and that was a stroke of genius to get Liss to cater. Very sensible. Now time to try a little rest! J x

  19. Many blessings.
And congratulations on achieving such a graceful looking and feeling day.

  20. I am glad your day went perfect. I am like you it’s better when you get other people to do the catering because you can relax more and enjoy the day.
