party animals

My three love a good party and this morning the bribe for good behaviour during church was the party we were going to afterwards! And it worked……plus a bag full of books, toys and jatz crackers of course!

When we arrived at their cousin’s birthday, Keira looked around at all of the adults, went straight up to her aunty phoebe and said ‘What kind of party is this?’. Ahhh, my keira! Never one to keep to herself!

But it had everything to keep them happy…..party food, cake, candles, family and a cubby outside to play in with their cousin.

Retro daddy and I now realise we better get the picket fence up in the front yard and get a cubby out there this Christmas as that is where they spent most of their time.

I took along Pioneer Woman’s mocha brownies, in a word….yum! I did the brownies the night before and iced them up this morning……who knew that thick mocha icing on a brownie could take it to a whole new level.  I won’t reveal how many I ate before, during and after the party…..but I’m pregnant and that’s my excuse! Now I’m afraid the recipe just seems to be from her book and not her website but correct me if I’m wrong!

  1. Well Phoebe is definately your sister!! Cute party. We had two today, i’m exhausted, drove over 100km to loop Canberra by midday.
I miss a front fence, my children always loved playing out the front in other houses we’ve had.
Now, that is quite some icing on those brownies!! One of the birthday cakes we had today had . . . 2″ thick icing with profiteroles in it!! On top of thick dark mud cake, mercifully we were only offered wafer thin slices.
    The Miffy cake rocks!!
    Love Posie

  2. The black and white photos are quite delightful, Corrie. Your children sure know how to enjoy themselves! And as for those brownies, I’ll have to chase up that recipe. J x

  3. How cute they all look! The Miffy cake is fab! Little houses in the garden are a hit forever – mine are 7 & 6 (ouch!) and still prefer being in theirs than the house most days!

  4. Awww i love the black and white photo’s also and the children are gorg. Brings back memories for me my boys are 14 and 10 now bless and almost giants. The miffy cake is brill. Looks like a lovely day was had by all ;-)) x
