luxury brownies

recession…what recession! I think baking brownies with good quality chocolate is recession friendly so when I saw that my favourite chocolate was on special I knew I had to make my very famous brownies…here is the recipe again so that I can put it in my project list over on the right!

175g dark chocolate (I used 100g maya and 75g dark for jaffa flavour brownies)
125g butter
3/4 sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup self raising flour

melt butter and chocolate, place into bowl and mix in sugar, eggs and then sifted flour. Pour into lined square cake tin and bake in 190 degree oven for 25 minutes. the top should feel firm and the edges slightly crispy and a skewer put in the middle should come out clean. Cool in tin (if you can wait that long) and slice and enjoy! I take no responsibility for the number of brownies you consume…

if you are on a budget use woolworths select brand dark cooking chocolate. Woollies did a great no name dark cooking choocolate in a big 375g block that was rich and great but this year they have gone and changed the recipe and the new stuff tastes like nothing, is soft and ended up in my bin!!!! steer clear…….

  10. Jenny, sorry I deleted your post as i thought you were a random person posting on my blog having a go at me as I couldn’t see a blog or email attached to your comment! Lets hope Cadbury’s do the right thing…. here is jenny’s post everyone….

‘Green and Black’s used to be fair trade, hence the higher cost. I don’t think Cadbury is keeping it as a fair trade brand (I checked just after the takeover and the Fair Trade logo had gone – haven’t checked again since).
I know it’s good the price has come down… but that means farmers are being paid less, and child labour is being used.

check out the ethical chocolate campaign. I’m feeling challenged to change my chocolate eating practices – and I eat A LOT of it, believe me.

Thought people might be interested in this info’ about chocolate – I think we’ve lost touch with the idea that acting together, we can achieve positive change…
I can’t quite enjoy my multiple and frequent chocolate fixes when I think little kiddies have been beaten to harvest the cocoa beans…

    always enjoy your blog!

    cheers
    Jenny
